Nice One Thumbs Up

Do you mind sharing a wiring diagram and what exactly you have done. I hope to emulate it and lose some of the cables behind the dash so I can tidy it up a bit. |Obviously losing the screen retention loom and excess from the amp bypass loom would be a good start.

Have you lost any of the functionality from the instrument binnacle? Specifically, can you get the voice button on the steering wheel to work with your new head unit. Also, can you access the "Settings" menu for things like lazy entry, dip mirrors etc? If these don't work I think you can strip the OEM head unit out completely.

Cheers

I have indeed lost access to the settings menu since to need to use the <<and>> to operate it but now thats going to the head unit.

this is a WIP picture so excuse the mess:

I hope that makes sense

ill test the voice button but the answer and hang up buttons work fine

I have completely removed the OEM head unit, am not using the screen retention loom but the simpler one that provides power and swc. Much cleaner wires wise then.

maybe if you connected the relay pin 86 to the headunit trigger wire, the system may start up without popping. Worth trying.

the optical convertor ign wire may need connecting to the headunit output too

Am not gonna lie I am pretty happy it's finally working I don't wanna touch it. The popping I can live with imo.

This way the relay is completely isolated from the head unit. so I can take the headunit out as much as I want without worrying about the relay disconnecting.

thanks for your help again, i would of been pretty lost otherwise.

edit: For guy, I lost the use of the speech button on the left of the steering wheel. Can ya do.

Cheers Mate Thumbs Up

Great to hear you've got things working. I suspect the voice won't work as the settings don't either.

I'm being a bit dim on the elctrics can you help confirm my wiring diagram below and point me in the right direction as to which wire exactly I need to connect to to trigger the L7 amp on?

Hopefully get this sorted this weekend and then it's the home run on tidying the old girl up..

Cheers

Cheers mgrover,

Could you tell me exactly which wire you connected to trigger the L7 amp? Would help if you gave location and wiring colouring.

Appreciate the help. Thumbs Up

Guys,

Having a blonde moment. If I have a decent Amp On wire from my head unit, could I just connect it to the appropriate wire (red/blue) and it should work?

Or as stated am I being blonde?

you still need to complete the circuit with the ground. my head unit had a amp on cable but just connecting to that isn't enough since that is basically just v12 switched on.

No this doesn't work, which is why the relay is needed

Hi Guys

So finally got around to doing this... And it doesn't work. I think it's the relay, but let me explain.

I've connected 30 & 85 to ground. 86 to 12vdc switched and 87 to the green blue/ red cable.

However, using a multimeter I'm getting 12v across 86 and or 30/ 85 but 0vdc on 87. Is this correct or is the relay fried? I'm hearing a click when power is applied but that's it.

I'll try find another relay, but your input would be appreciated 👍🏼

Cheers

I think you connect 87 to the wrong wire.

Re read carefully and be sure.
