My issue is the lighter only gives 8v which isn't enough to trigger the relay

Nah its because the front cigar lighter is only 8v, the rear is 12v.fml. Is there any other acc cables I can tap into?

what are you using the lighter wire for ?

run the wire to the fusebox behind glovebox and use piggy back fuse

Someone already has. I can't remove the glove box either since its snapped my torx bit.

Am guessing the wires too thin a gauge for 12v? I don't know what else they might of messed up tbf.

you shouldn't need any tools.

Once the plastic around the headunit and display are removed.
Open the lower glovebox,
Empty the lower glovebox
Then grab the hinges and push outwards.
THe door should drop and you should be able to see the fusebox and route and wire between headunit and fusebox. or try

I think my batteries knackered. it only has 6v when the cars off. ill charge it overnight and see if it will stay at 12v but am not hopeful.

yeah its a brand new battery.

i mean it would make sense. if the battery while dead is 6, then it jumps up to 8 when the car is on.

am just hoping it means the battery is dead and not the car electronics are Censored since now it won't even try to start and the dvd player is showing a red light.

Cheers Andy,

That throws a curve ball in my logic, but suggests the OEM HU is not functioning 100% as I suspected. I've got a replacement coming so will have to wait and see...

So, batteries charged, the multimeter says its at 8v so who even knows what that means. Cars started. When I put a fuse in for the lighter the car won't start. Everything just turns itself off? Dafuq

Is this because I butchered the phone charger by the fridge. I cut all its wires

It's cause I cut the ground on it. I'll have to trace it back and remove it from loom. For now removing fuse for the phone/dvd player will do

she's all hooked up and working perfectly. thanks for your help gents. my issue was just loose connectors really.

three small issues:

1. Still the humming but thats due to the decoder, also a popping sound when turning off
2. When I didn't put music on when I got into the car and turned it on i think the amp turned itself off, not sure if theres a timing thing to it? I did hook it up to my 12v switched and just avoided the head unit entirely.
3. I now have a incartec retaining upper screen loom thats normally about 100quid. Two wires are cut but I'll repair them and hopefully sell it for for what, £70?

Thanks for you all help gents.
