| aaronjb Member Since: 26 Jun 2019 Location: Northampton Posts: 447    | Strange - studs are almost always used as an upgrade vs bolts when building high performance engines; they allow a much  higher clamping force as the stud is only deformed along one axis (length), while a bolt has to be deformed along two axes (stretched along its length and twisted around its core) to provide the same clamping force..
