Most of my driving would be classed as city, I live 2 miles from the city centre. I don’t need a 4x4.

But I actually ended up liking the loaner TDV6 / SDV6 RRS more than I liked my own new V8SC which enjoyed living at the dealer more than with me.

I still like the RRS quite a lot. But honestly, I am really enjoying the chuckability of cars, the A4 Allroad around town is proving really good. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

This is so true. You don’t need a 4x4 to get around in snow, and I am not talking about 1 cm London snow. On ski trips in Austria, Italy and Switzerland, I have seen RWD BMWs, Mercedes and other saloons with winter tyres or snow socks get to the top of mountains via steep roads covered in thick snow. When it comes to stopping in slippery conditions, being lighter, these cars obviously do way better than heavy 4x4s. Despite winter tyres, careful speed and good knowledge of the car’s off-road controls, I have had some scary moments in my RRS when descending snow covered roads while others were cruising past with ease. It was an eye-opener that taught me not to take LR’s marketing claims too seriously.

I haven’t yet used my XC90 in proper snow but in a few cms of snow earlier in the year, it was fine even on all season tyres.

RRS is a very good SUV for many reasons but for a vast majority of people, capability isn’t one of them.

The XC90 was a really great car, it didn't skip a beat in the past 6 months and I didn't really lose that much money on it as it was an ex-demo again (have stopped buying new too expensive).

The T8 with Polestar is a great car make no mistake the only quirk I had with it was that the front wheels had much more power than the back - it was twice as noticeable on the XC60 though and even then it wasn't a bad thing but in Performance mode with traction control turned off it was a fun thing to drive!

I was mainly just getting a bit jittery about where PHEVs are going in the market at the moment, P400e's and T8's tech wise are in a place that I can't quite gauge, so I'm jumping ship to more familiar territory.

Its a 68 plate registered in Feb 2019 and I hope to have got rid of it before Feb 2022** so will be covered from a warranty point of view or I wouldn't have got it after reading all the posts.

With that being said do LR and the dealer allow rejection for dilution reasons if the car does it quite a lot? Is there a surefire way to tell whether your car does it?

That is the version of the infotainment system.

You cannot access the software versions of the various engine system modules from the screen.

I would have thought it was fixed on your car, but you will soon know.

Just check the distance to next service and it should drop in line with your usage.
If you have the problem then after a couple of thousand miles it will be asking for a service at the 5-8,000 mile mark rather than the normal 16,000. 2026 P460e Autobiography on order

First time I've owned the SDV6 in an RRS, only other times I've had this engine were in a Velar, an XF and an XJ.

Driven a few demo ones for longish stints though so no surprises - barring the issues - nice engine for the RRS!

I'm guessing as this is an MY19 car its Euro6d-Temp rated so they've done something extra to it to get the NOX even further down?

Whilst I was waiting for my car to be polished had a go in a SCV8 full size Range Rover, that was nice and in normal non SV-trim it was quite quiet!!! Was impressed with it.

This new inline 6 Ingenium Engine that's apparently coming in MY21 for the Defender, do you think that will make it into this generation Range Rover Sport?

Would be an interesting engine to see in a Sport I think, do the Ingenium engines suffer from dilution?

i6 RRS are out there since 2 Months.

It was an option for me, but then I heard it’s just a bit better than the outgoing V6 and not as refined in vibration and sound like the competition.

The i4 was such a disappointment, in sound, vibrations and fuel consumption in my P400e, means I think still SDV6 and V8 engines are my suggestions for the best actual drivetrains.

Hey Renaco,

Yes I saw the I6 petrol engines.

But I was referring to the Diesel versions, there's a slide for the new Defender that shows a D300 engine which in that instance is supposed to be an I6 and not a V6.

They say that engine isn't due to start shipping for the Defender until MY21 though so sometime late next year.

Was wondering how long they have the supply contract on this current SDV6 engine, I'm guessing its another Ford jobbie along with the SDV8?

Two quick ones;

- Does the inside seam of the bottom of your tailgate have a really bad finish with bumps and faint scratch line along it - not the outside facing corner but the inside facing one. Mine is pretty bad just noticed it when I was wiping boot seals today.

- Does anyone elses Online Media play up when you start the car again, have an internet radio station set on TuneIn but whenever I start the car the whole thing locks up and thinks it was playing Deezer and then I have to flip sources away and back to it to get it working again, bit of a pain. Thought it was because I logged into the Live services but I logged out and its still doing it!!

LR used to be owned by BMW before Ford and Tata, I had a TD6 FFRR and was bitterly disappointed with what was then supposed to be BMW’s best Diesel engine - rattled like a Berlin Taxi even when warm, wheezed on turbo boost and soooooooo slow. Worst car engine I have ever had. The 2.0ltr TD4 in the Freelander 1 I had before was a much much better BMW Engine, smooth and quiet and loads of power at low revs. The little 1.5 3 cylinder turbo petrol engine in my Countryman though is a cracker, almost silent unless I really welly it, super smooth for a triple and more than enough power to pull along a PHEV with 150 extra kgs of batteries under the back seat. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
