I donated £20 a couple of years ago and didn't even get an email or pm thanks. Surely that would have been courteous...

Thats definitely not the case now - I have received an email of thanks everytime I have donated.

After last weeks golf society event I am very aware of the need for a very large brolly - do we still have them on sale? WINNER - 2009 Best Newcomer Award

I answered my own question.

One brolly ordered - and it is in keeping with the colour scheme of my Taylor Made bag too so it all worked out well Smile WINNER - 2009 Best Newcomer Award

I think it is worth drawing a line under this discussion for now.

I have taken on board all the comments everyone has posted - perhaps the way it started was not the best catalyst for the discussion, however I now have a greater understanding of what you, the members, think and want from the site.

From my side, I can say that RRSPORT will always be free and open to all - it's very important to me that RRS information and knowledge is shared and can be referred to without barriers. I am also extremely grateful to every member who contributes to that RRS related content - without you there could be no site.

To address a common concern - the hosting costs are more than I would ideally like, but the site runs on a premium, dedicated, service from an excellent provider who give 24/7 access to support in case of problems, with a 15 minute response time to get issues addressed. Yes, it could always be cheaper, and it has been in the past, but then there we have experienced reliability problems. It's a little like an RRS and a Vitara - however I'll let you decide which is which Wink

There is a currently a large amount of work going on to develop "RRSPORT.CO.UK Version 2", which is why there has not been the usual flurry of development activity on the current software. This is what the revenue from sponsorship and donations is paying for, after hosting costs have been paid - my time and those of suppliers to develop the site and pay for software so it fits perfectly to what the RRS community deserves. Like this site? OK, as I suggested yesterday I'm going to lock this thread off now.

The final say as Martin has clarified above:

- there are no plans for a mandatory membership fee
- "for sale" listings will attract a fee
- donate if you see fit, don't if you don't Smile
