Too late Very Happy ,dealer gave me more than expected on px value current RRS plus almost 6% discount off list on a DS.

I know driving wise I'm going to miss the RRS. It came down to a head vs heart matter and the wife talking sensible stuff that I didn't really want to hear won the day Cool

BTW, I can report that residuals for a 3.5 year old 40k miles RRS Black Edn are holding up well Thumbs Up

Better than a 2 year old RRS Black Edition last year then Big Cry

So I'm booked tomorrow for extended drive but decided to shop around today and visited my local Mitsubishi and LR dealer for research purposes Confused

Mitsubishi - pulled in small run of the mill garage and parked in 1 of many free customer spaces - owner of dealership sat in showroom and available if I wanted to meet him - 2 salesmen greeted me and asked if they can help - given keys and offered unaccompanied test drive so off we went - no pressure at any point. Came back to be given figures and told they can sell on my DS and to come back any questions - Offered £6600 discount straight away off showroom model with immediate delivery or 66 plate if preferred Cool

LR - nowhere to park due to shear number of cars around "Art Gallery" showroom - receptionist asked if she could help after I eventually parked on access road - no sales staff free so wandered around looking at mainly RR/RRS/RRE/D4s with telephone number price tags - eventually someone came over and apologised but everyone was busy. Staff everywhere on phones and talking to each other (owner probably on a yacht somewhere). I explained I wanted a PHEV and my dilemma to be told LR are not going down that route and with production full capacity/waiting lists not really priority and they're not going to take off - I explained been a customer for 16 years/10 JLRs etc. Advised they have plenty of stock so not buying at moment. Left feeling very sad to see how it's all changed - I remember when my local salesman "Mike" used to greet me by my first name and say take it for the weekend if you want - those were the days Rolling Eyes

So after paying £40k for a DS 8 months ago that does 35mpg and dealers can now sell for £38k looking at a new Mits Phev for £24500 after tax rebate that will do 68 mpg according to courtesy car computer/140 mpg according to mate with everything the DS has plus 360 deg cameras but not AEB - I will admit the audio in DS is superior and the switches etc feel better quality on the DS but 5 years warranty vs 3 years warranty should take care of any quality issues (feedback is reliability is excellent though) Confused

Feels like I'm on the high board deciding if I should jump or not Laughing

Oh forgot to add I asked about booking in for some minor warranty issues like squeaking rear camera and tailgate realignment - 19th September earliest available date - 25 days! Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

It sounds to me that if these things had a L/R badge on it you'd of already bought it, there wouldn't be any of this debating. It's called brand loyalty brought on even more because your tempted by a jap shoebox sorry battery powered jap shoebox. It doesn't help when you have to deal with up there own arse salesmen. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Andy - can't see me in a RRS2 ever - FFRR maybe Wink

I would snap a DS phev up in an instant - I'm a sucker for a LR badge Embarassed

I've had some incredible LRs and some Censored service so it's a really hard decision Confused

After today though Swmbo is on board now with the Mitsubishi plus the XK/f-type for 2nd vehicle - which is good and bad at the same time Laughing Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Followed an F-type this morning on the A34. Sounded great on the odd occasion that traffic allowed the throttle to be opened. I guess it was the V6 from the noise (sounded good and raspy) but it never pulled away from me that quickly, which was surprising. Lovely looking car. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Buy the Phev and stick a LR badge on the steering wheel. There are sticker boys on here who could hit you up with a free LR/RR badge then you get the best of both worlds! 2012 Evoque

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Firenze Red

Well Muddy,

Just to throw the cat amongst the pigeons, why not try an F-Pace? I had a test drive in one yesterday. Very familiar surroundings when compared to the RRS2. Good range of petrol engines as well as diesel (no hybrid, though) and a price quite well below that of a new RRS which is now getting just ridiculous. Give it a try, I am sur you'll like it!

TBH I was left very disappointed with the F Pace. Crying or Very sad

On paper it was my next buy but the 4cyl engine sounded gruff, not as refined as in the DS., albeit more economical on my 42 mile test route. The V6 is nicer but much more pricey for what is basically just an engine upgrade

I've seen a few negative reviews on discosportforum about F pace saying DS is better and cheaper so didn't bother looking Confused

Had a few hours in the phev today round Leeds area - bad timing as it's Leeds festival at Bramham Rolling Eyes

According to computer while it was using electric driving it was doing 353 mpg. At end of day I did 73 miles and it had used the engine according to dash lights although I couldn't hear when it was engine or electric and did 68.9 mpg overall Thumbs Up

It's definitely not as glamorous as a LR but smooth and quiet as a limo with low running costs Confused

These models, amongst other things, are just to slow top speed, would miss that on my many trips to Germany.
Think generally the discovery Sport is just so plastic based, very poor and cheap quality and finish, with masses of the plastic stuff over dashboard, I just couldn't get over the general quality it is just so poor over all, and am quite disappointed with this as a Land Rover. Having borrowed a 16 Reg with a few hundred miles on clock, (when mine was having a service plus,) we both thought it was just horrid, and how anyone could own one of these after a RRS I just can't possibly understand, like chalk and cheese. Must be one of their worst models after that pretend RR the Evoque. Whistle John

I agree it's not as quick as DS on paper but I'm unable to do more than 70 mph will leave the DS standing at a junction or traffic light by the time ASS and ZF have woken up - it will also do it silently not like a tractor Embarassed Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
