Don’t most people finance their cars by PCP? Surely the increase on this basis is minor?

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Maybe, but I am at the stage in life where I don’t want huge monthly deductions - i’ve earned well ( better than many) until the last 10 years when I haven’t had a single pay rise, where my prospects of the promised final salary pension (started in the early 1980’s!) have disappeared and monthly payments go up if the price goes up on a new car. My current RRS cost £69000 in March 2015, it now would cost me £50 short of £79000 BEFORE the price hike, simply I cannot afford one any longer and there must be quite a few others who have the same issue as we approach retirement. A £10000 price increase over 3.5 years simply cannot be justified, especially with all the other problems that JLR are having making electronics work, snapping cranks, oil dilution and plain shoddy workmanship on the production line that senior management simply don’t acknowledge. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Every £1000 adds around £30 a month on PCP so a £4k increase like on my like for like MY18 vs MY19 would cost me £135 a month more - it's not as minor as it sounds - £1620 over 12 months or £4860 over 36 months!

135 a month is substantial. I thought it would be circa 30 to 50 quid max.

It seems to be a disproportionally high increase. Can only assume the Pound devaluation is the cause of some of the increase. Parts and components and raw materials, many bought in foreign currencies. MY19 5.0SC Dynamic AB - Boss Grey, Black Pano Roof, 22” Gloss Black Alloys, Ebony/Ivory Massage Seats, Carbon Fibre Finishers, HUD, DTV and the all important Cabin Ionisation...

Just used the calculator to finance an SDV6 at 69k vs 79k...

69k = 870 per month
79k = 1102 per month

Yikes!!!! MY19 5.0SC Dynamic AB - Boss Grey, Black Pano Roof, 22” Gloss Black Alloys, Ebony/Ivory Massage Seats, Carbon Fibre Finishers, HUD, DTV and the all important Cabin Ionisation...

Will you get a factory order 2018MY now, may be too late as it will be too close to Sept 1st emissions rules change to deliver and register. Might get an excellent deal on an ex-demo or management car or a car that is built and in stock that they will be really really keen to get registered before the change because if it isn’t sold they will have to register it anyway to avoid it going in the crusher....... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim,
Speaking as a pensioner I entirely agree. Many years ago I was advised to never spend more 40% of your salary on a car, ie, if you earn £100k don't spend more than £40k. I've kept to this and as a result on retirement my budget has changed. It's just a fact of life that we have to adapt too and if a RR is too expensive there are plenty of other options.

RRS sold and replaced with a Skoda Kodiaq after appalling RR Dealer experience and LR inability to supply new cars in any sort of reasonable time frame..

Tim there are no MY18 car's lying around anywhere around here - apparently all sold out. A couple of friends are desperately trying to find one after taking a ride in my car last week and they have tried 3 local dealers who all say it will need to be an MY19 car now as all MY18 are sold out - so "an excellent deal" on an MY18 won't be possible at all. One had an HSE listed to £71k and they were not willing to give a penny off.

Can vouch for that, just back from my dealer no MY18s. Earliest delivery on a MY19 is towards end of October and with the PX on mine at that time I can't bridge the gap - another priced out of a new RRS.

Have put my name down on a Top spec Velar subject to a successful 48 hour test next week. The Velar delivery will be mid September and they are basically giving me £4.5k more for my PX against Velar compared to the RRS. Only decision left on the Velar subject to liking it is colour Fuji with black roof and black pack or Santorini with black pack. 2018 MY19 HSE Dynamic, Santorini, Ebony/Ivory, Sliding pano, Adaptive cruise, Black wheels. Arrived 3rd September 2018
2015 MY16 HSE Dynamic, Santorini, ebony/cirrus, sliding pano, cameras, black wheels - Arrived 1 October 2015

That's list price though, which is no longer the price you pay. I got £10k off mine 6 months ago. I'm led to believe that wasn't the case in 2015. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

I have had 7 LRs, never had a discount off any current MY cars, enhanced px yes. Two months ago I was offered £14k off an 18 plate MY 17 SDV8AB, if I had taken it the vehicle it would be two MYs old now with depreciation to match! Its the cost to change that matters and anticipated residuals. I rejected the V8 on, minimal performance increase, extra fuel and insurance cost poor residual value. 2018 MY19 HSE Dynamic, Santorini, Ebony/Ivory, Sliding pano, Adaptive cruise, Black wheels. Arrived 3rd September 2018
2015 MY16 HSE Dynamic, Santorini, ebony/cirrus, sliding pano, cameras, black wheels - Arrived 1 October 2015

Ive been told that the MY18 facelift is the last of the “big” cosmetic changes on the RRS...the new FFRR model will be launched sometime in Q1 2020 followed by the RRS sometime in Q4 2020 or Q1 2021. No major changes expected for further MY updates inside too as the entire RR model line up apart from the evoque now use the touch pro duo system. I think its a safe time to buy one if you are in the market for one. As always...please don’t ask me how I know..I just do Thumbs Up
