Changing battery

I need to disconnect my battery for a minute or 2 in order to replace the 60A glow plug fuse.

My concern is to know if there is a particular procedure to follow and more important will it upset any settings etc on the vehicle when I reconnect?

I assume it is safe to disconnect just the negative.

Any help would be much appreciated. RRS (MY13) Santorini Black SDV6 HSE luxuary

Just make sure the ignition is off and then disconnect the negative terminal. That'll be fine. Kev

My car has a label next to the battery which I think shows IGN off, wait 2 minutes to power down, then remove neg battery clamp. Ignore my pointer, the photo was for another chap.

England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Hi guys
Replaced my battery today for a new exide EA 1000
When I removed the old battery, I found what I believe to be the vent pipe tucked underneath it ? And not connected to anything ??? I assume it’s been like that for the 3 1/2 years I’ve owned it Sad
My question is .…. 1. should this be connected to the new battery ?
2. Should the vent pipe have an insert , that connects said pipe to battery ?

Thanks
Devon.

You only need to connect the vent tube if you have a vented battery. Some are sealed. Phil

It’s more important when batteries are in the boot.
But lr must have fitted it for a reason.

My S/C certainly never came with a AGM as standard, although I have fitted one now.

As normal L/R confuse things, RRS1 Petrol Variants only ever had wet cell batteries fitted, 3.0 and 3.6 up to VIN No. BA716316 had wet batteries, BA716317 on had AGM's fitted.

Cheers

Thanks for all the replies guys Thumbs Up
The exide premium EA1000 is a wet battery, and “apparently” an upgrade to the the battery I had ?
My sport was never fitted with an AGM battery , and I’m still non the wiser if the new battery should be vented or not ?
I’ve ordered a vent elbow (as the pipe I found under the old battery doesn’t have one) And I will attach it just in case . I can’t see it doing any harm Whistle
Cheers
Devon.
