Could this be linked to my handbrake controller as its out of range and wont work

A complete guess, but there are 2 fuel/water heat exchangers on the car.
That would cause coolant loss and misfire wouldn't it?
or if you suspect EGR's then remove the coolant pipes and bypass ... |
