Hello, new Sport owner.
So I'm not totally new to the quirks of Sports as my wife has a Discovery 3, face lifted with a 4 front and rear end and RRS dash.

I was half heartedly looking for a run around and stumbled upon this Sport.
She's a 2007 HSE 3.6Tdv8 in Java black.
She needed a new water pump and a few other little bits.
We did the water pump, belts, idlers and tensioners this week.
I havevput about 30 miles on her and tonight my wife took our son out and one of the idler bolts has snapped, leaving them without power steering or a water pump.
Deep joy.
Got her home as they were only half a mile away.
I was planning on putting 4 new tyres on her and changing the ABS sensors and rings as they are causing problems but now planning to take a look and see what I can do about this snapped bolt.
Anyway that's enough from me, no doubt I'll be asking questions soon.

New to the forum and need some advice please.
Our 2016 RRS HSE SDV6 has just snapped it's crankshaft! Our independent JLR specialist has suggested a replacement engine (which they don't fit). They've found iron filings in the oil filter. I live near Chelmsford in Essex. Does anyone know & could recommend where to source a replacement engine and someone to fit please? The car has less than 60k miles on it and we have had from new. It's immaculate apart from this engine problem

Hi and Welcome. You sound very relaxed about such a fundamental fault in an expensive car with only 60k on the clock. There are many stories on this forum about the issues with V6s and their crankshafts. It is well worth browsing through some of those. But I suggest you also post this (if you haven't already) under a more relevant sub heading so that it gets picked up easier by those in the know. Robin

Was last here on the disco 3 forum when I bought a Discovery 3 HSE back in 2009, had it a couple of years when we intended to retire to Cumbria. Car wasn’t at all reliable and had problems with the electronic handbrake, air suspension and other niggles. In the end we retired to the south coast so bought a BMW 3 series tourer followed by a 5 series tourer, briefly came back to the brand with a Velar.

Sold the Velar in December 21 when used prices were sky high and ordered a Discovery 5 which the dealer after some 7 months wasn’t able to supply. So bought an X5 which has been reliable, economical and comfortable.

Today I ordered a RR sport SE and hope to take delivery in November. The car was certainly good to drive and equipment list is very high just hope reliability is good too.

Not taken the plunge just yet but I am looking.

I'm also on D3 & FF forums as former owner of both vehicles. My daughter is currently looking to upgrade her Freelander 2 to a D3, possibly this week, which is how I've ended up here

Never really looked at the sport and have only just now come to realise that they have quite a lot going for them, particularly, in my opinion, the 59/10 plate 3.6TDV8. Especially in Autobiography trim.

I love the ruggedness of the D3 and the luxury of the FF. The sport is a nice compromise between the two.

This is probably as much as i will ever say on here, I admit that I lurk in the shadows, gleaning help and advice from others but want you all to know that I do appreciate the help and support.

After years of owning Td5’s, went back to Hilux, Hilux has gone on Holiday to Derby for its new chassis on Toyotas recall, so as a stop gap I bought a sport, TDv8, always fancied one but was never brave enough to splash out 20k for a disaster to happen in the past, but now we have one, hst model, drives very well, 114k, my question is an I find any service history on it from the number plate etc, and we have a slight screech sometimes on acceleration, cheers

Welcome. I'd have thought the SVR would be a little, er, different to your L405 experiences. Certainly more go and less wallow. Look forward to hearing how you get on with it. Hopefully only good stories will be told.  2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

New member as of today. Love LR and have had Disco 1, 2 & 4's, Freelander 2, now on RRS 2013 and loving it - apart from the garage bills of course.
