If they are blanked off will it fail the MOT on emissions or affect the running of it or fuel consumption?

I presume to blank off the EGRS will cost just as much in labour charges? 4 or 5 hours to blank them?

Technically it's an MOT failure as its part of the cars emission system. However, it's deep in the engine so you can't see it unless you go looking for it. Blanking them off stops the soot recirculation in the engine so that's a benefit.

Blanking will cost less. Just make sure you get the software patch as well or you will get a warning light L320 Range Rover Sport 2008

Ok thanks I will look into blanking them off if it doesn't affect the engine or performance? I guess i will save about £500 for the cost of buying two EGR valves

Where do I get the software patch from? Is it the firm supplying the blanking kit?

England 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red

usually is it not recommended to blank the V8's

A patch would cost at least £200

Patch from here

https://bellautoservices.co.uk/store/rrs-3...-road-use/

I assume you need to pay someone to install it on top of that ?

or purchase a tool yourself to do it. £425. However this tool does hold its value, and would be of use to you while you own the car.

425+180 = £605 + blanks + installation

I had mine done by Bodsy and it cost far less than that.

Andy,
Why is it not recommended to blank the EGRs on a V8TD?
From what different people are saying it maybe safer to replace my EGRs with new valves rather than blank them off?
Craddocks seem to be the cheapest at around £500 plus £400 labour. Quite a dear job in the end!

I don't know why. Mikey on here, who knows these engines says not to on the V8.

Cheapest thing is probably just to change the 1 EGR, assuming someone is confident they know which side is faulty

Ok thanks but it was recommended by my local LANDROVER specialist to change both EGRs, although only one leaking.
I will probably get both valves changed with it being such a big job. I don't like the thought of blanking them off especially if it affects the emissions then the MOT?
