P400e idle problem

My P400e has started to run rough on tick over. Usually happens on 40+ mile journey. Example: Pull up at a junction and feels like the idle revs are too low so car splutters and engine shaking. Can also feel it while driving when you take your foot off the gas pedal... although runs fine when you press the gas pedal... Came home from a 90 mile drive today, last 26 miles on motorway with no problems... pulled into my driveway, put the car in park, and there it was, struggling to keep running, engine shaking like it was being starved of fuel. Stopped the engine, started it again and it ran perfectly...

Has anyone had this issue or know wtf is happening??
2018 RRsport P400e 2L petrol.

Thanks Confused

@Benidorm - Did you ever get to the bottom of this and find a solution? Be good to know if what I am experiencing is something similar.

Thank you,
RK

Thank you.

I actually just replaced both of mine with the newer design following the same guide. It was a faff on the p400e, but it’s done now. It made a difference but there is still something there.

I’m thinking it might be the PCV valve as I noticed there’s a bit too much oil in the intake before turbo and only poor PCV can do that. I’ll check that out next.

If you have a pre 2020 year, Is the timing chain rattling on cold start.

Maybe needs a new chain and tensioner

JR vehicle services do them.

It has tappet type noise all the time when the car is running to be honest. Almost sounds like an injector issue.

In the back of my head I’m thinking it may just be the chain. No PCM codes now though. It did have the codes for solenoid prior to fixing them.

I’ll try and up load a video here.

Here’s the video link: https://imgur.com/a/u05yE23

When listening in person it seems like the noise is coming from the front middle of the engine. The tappet noise that is, and not from the rear end.

I'm still learning about the engine.

I know it has a shaft running though it, off the timing belt, which is another problem area, so I wonder if its that. Complete guess.

I guess you should take it to an expert, and maybe get the timing chain done anyway, for peace of mind.
