TDV8 3.6 loss of power

2007 tdv8 3.6 98000 miles loss of power. Drive at any speed or load then sudden loss of power, message on dash reads Engine Fault, turn engine off then restart and everything ok but will re occur at any time. No fault codes detected or stored. Suspect a mechanical fault.

Common problem is that the intercooler pipes deteriorate with age, easy and cheap fix so check those.

Failing that get it scanned for codes.

Does it smoke under load? Black smoke would suggest an intercooler pipe has split. White smoke suggests a turbo failing. If it's the latter, don't drive it until it's looked at because it's not unknown for a turbo failure to stuff enough oil in to the intake system to hydro-lock the engine. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thank you for the pointer. Found the top right hand hose split, will replace both top hoses immediately and sort the bottom two later. Thanks again
