I checked out various reviews, trustpilot, defaqto etc. Virtually every insurer has a mixture of happy and sad customers... current: RRS HST P400 engine ( 2021) Hakuba silver

I've just spent (wasted) a day doing this, and although I could have saved up to £90 on a comparison website with a company I've never heard of the likes of AXA, Privilage, the AA etc, whilst cheaper didn't offer the same level of cover I have currently. You have to read the small print to learn that specifically they don't offer 3rd party cover on a car not owned by you. The reason I want this is in case I have to drive my lads car. It's not a common occurrence, but recently he's had spinal surgery and I needed to move his car for him. As always, make sure you read the small print.
In the end, I have decided to renew after persuading them to drop it by £30.
I did try A Plan but the cheapest they could arrange was through LV, I think, for nearly £300 more than My renewal.

Cant recommend LV highly enough.

With them at the moment and my car was written off 2 weeks ago. The other driver was with LV too. they paid out within 2 working days of the garage telling them its a total loss and are letting me have the hire car for an extra week (didn't ask them to).

They paid me £300 less than i paid for the car this time last year so either i got a really good deal or they paid out top whack. Either way i'm a happy camper!! L494 3.0L SDV6 Autobiography in Chile Red (Current)

Glad to hear a happy insurance story.

Sadly LV is getting out of the RRS market. Can’t think why.... Laughing current: RRS HST P400 engine ( 2021) Hakuba silver

I had an unsolicited email from LV inviting me to get a quote. Clean licence, no claims in last 5 years, max NCD. They took me right through the process and when I pressed “Get Quote” it came up -
“We don’t insure your type of car.”

I won’t print what I called them for wasting my time.

I think LV have recently decided to knock Range Rovers on the head. They've sent me an email saying i have 60 days to add a new car to my policy after my write off or i loose it with no refund and they won't be able to renew the cover. L494 3.0L SDV6 Autobiography in Chile Red (Current)

Update on this, they refused to add my L494 onto the old policy and gave me a refund so its safe to say don't bother with LV.. L494 3.0L SDV6 Autobiography in Chile Red (Current)

England 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Santorini Black

Being a driving instructor I insure my 2019 seat Leon 1.6 diesel with Adrian flux so I thought that I would get a great deal having second car insured with them (7 years no claims and 55 yrs old) Leon costs £800 being a learner car. Quote with them for 2011 RRS 3.0 tdv6 HSE . Was £1,500. Just doesn’t add up really.

So I eventually went with admiral, without the black box. £565 .. hundred quid cheaper with the box, but, somehow I don’t fancy big brother in the car all the time.

Of course my Liverpool postcode adds a hundred or so onto premium.

I had the same with LV "we dont insure your type of car" lol, so I did a confused dotcom search and City ~Insurance was best--- yes they were brokers and yes you guessed it the Insurance is underwritten by LV lol
Explain that chestnut Rolling with laughter

Insurance quotes

Hi All,
Just looking around for dreaded insurance as my current policy now refuse to renew/quote - no explanation.

Everyone i am looking at states must have a tracker for RRS sdv6 2014.

OR - and i had to laugh at him on the phone - we can insure your car but wont pay out if its stolen. WTF!!
Perhaps he would like me to insure my house with them as well and if if falls down then they dont have to rebuild it...

Any tips as dont see why i need to pay someone else £500 to protect the car and then insurance on top. L494 2014 Chillie Red & Black Roof, black pack

Hi, try the Meercat ( compare the market) and NFU mutual via your local office. You will be sorted with them. AXA and the AA came out very good but there is a bit of a postcode lottery.

Couple of things to note with this, some insurers generally require a tracker when value goes over a certain threshold for example £40k (this can vary on insurer but can also vary on postcode as some higher theft areas will require a tracker at a lower value). Where it's kept will also influence in some areas e.g garaged, driveway, parked on the road. And finally... the RRsport has been the most stolen car for 2 years running (and been in the top 10 for at least 4) so the risk factor has increased on them and a tracker does help to recover them should the worst happen.

Hope this shows some insight - but if you want to read more there's quite a few articles online if you just search "most stolen cars UK" on google. I feel your pain as I have an X5 which is also a top 10 regular!

Carlie

The UK's most stolen cars are:
Range Rover Sport.
Range Rover Vogue.
Range Rover Autobiography.
BMW X5.
Land Rover Discovery and BMW 3 Series.
Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
Range Rover Evoque.
Mercedes-Benz C-Class AMG.

I had exactly the same when I bought my 2010 RRS, my then insurer insisted on a tracker for theft cover which I had installed the day after I got it home (I have 6' gates on my drive and I boxed it in with the wife's car and the smelly dog van).
Every insurer I have looked at since have not been interested if I have a tracker or not, currently with SAGA, because I'm old.
Frankly, I doubt that a professional car thief would have any difficulty in locating the tracker (they seem to put them in the same place apparently) and rip it out. I paid for the lifetime (that you own the car) monitoring fee so it's not an additional annual cost.

We’ve just had our renewal come through with Admiral multicover and it’s gone up by £3 total for my car, my wife’s SAAB and house insurance. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.
