Hi everyone.

I apologise if this has been covered before.

I'm looking to change the Alloys / Tyres on my Supercharged 2010 RRS.

I have considered most options and I want to fill the arches / have a bigger look alloy than my Present 20" Alloys with 275/40/20's.

22" Rims with 285/35/22 are not an option as I don't want a harsher ride & there is much coverage of 22" cracking / requiring welding because of the lower profile tyre.

I'm seriously considering OEM L405 21" Diamond Face Alloys and fitting new 275/40/21's or as a cheaper option buying second hand OEM Rim/Tyre set with already fitted 275/45/21's or OEM L405 22" Rim/Tyre set with .40 profiles.

They are also 9.5J and the Offset is only slightly different at 49mm rather than standard 53mm.

The Standard Fit 275/40/20's give a 728mm Running Diameter.

The 275/40/21's will give a 3% increase in running Diameter
The 275/45/21's will give a 7% increase in running Diameter
The 285/35/22 will give a 4% increase in running Diameter.
The 275/40/22's will give a 6.8 % increase in running Diameter

I know on here some people have ran with 275/45/20's (3% increase in running Diameter).

I know the increase in Rim Dia/Tyre Increase Diameter and weight will affect braking efficiency.

Any body had experience with 21's with .45 Profiles or 22's with .40 Profile please and/or running Diameter Delta's from Standard?

I have been running 275/45 x 21" SVR wheels and tyres on my MY13 S/C L320 for nearly 5 years now and have had absolutely no issues with the brakes or anything else whatsoever. The speedo is spot on and the ride fine, the offset is no issue either. Oh and welcome to the forum. Can I ask how you deduced there would be a 7% reduction in braking efficiency?

I was also considering the 21" 'Satin SVR' wheels - May I ask if you have a picture of them fitted on your L320?

The SVR rims I have fitted are the old original diamond cut 21" style wheels that were on the first cars, hence why they are nearly 5 years old now. Don't have many pictures I'm afraid.

Hi all,
very much on the same point, I have 20" 275/40/20 knackered wheels and tyres on my 2007 TDV8.
I have an opportunity to by a set of 21' with 275/45/21LR alloys with half used tyres from a 2015 Autobiog. Will there be any problems with fitting or running ?

I have 255/55/20 which are 787mm diameter. 275/45/21 are 780mm diameter so no problems there. The width however is 20mm greater. As above, Col has been running the same size so it appears you'll be fine.

Just bear in mind that your car wasn't designed for wheels larger than 20". People have reported vibrations when going larger, especially if the vehicle has not been fitted with a damped steering rack. From personal experience, I have had issues with vibrations at >70mph but this was purely down to wheel balancing. I had to take it to 3 different places until it was done right. Yes, I'm very fussy but likewise, I also think my car is fussy about wheel balancing too! Kev
