rear L/H seized caliper

Has anyone ever rebuilt the rear caliper with seal kit etc, mine is proper seized, wont budge with clamp, unsure whether to rebuild or change, hate bleedsing brakes as well, can you clamp of the hose to stop the air getting in to system?

Cheers

Gerry

New calliper is best option, yes you can get a tool to clamp the pipe or use some mole grips but put a piece of cloth inbetween grips & pipe so not to damage pipe the once new calliper is fitted slacken bleed nipple remove grips & then the calliper will gravity bleed, once only fluid is coming out re tighten nipple & all done. Andy.

Great was going to go with the new caliper, do you think changing both is a good idea or just the one.

Will get on to flea bay and see what there is.

Thanks for the advice and info matey

Cheers

I myself would change both as they will probably be same age & also replace with new discs & pads, that way they are all new & check & clean hand brake mechanism while you have discs off. Andy.

Yea changed the discs and pads yesterday, that when I found the seized caliper, the rubber boot has disintegrated completely

Can be found even cheaper. It actually costs more in labour to free off a caliper than it does to replace the thing Confused
