Scotland 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
Vibration at speed worse braking at speed

Just got myself a 2007 tdv8 rrs, I was aware of an issue under braking at speed when I bought it and assumed (was told by the seller) that the discs needed skimmed. I have now noticed that there is a very slight vibration through the steering wheel at speed 60mph or so, which gets worse under braking. It’s not noticeable at low speeds.
Would this suggest it’s not warped discs and does anyone know what it is likely to be?
I have searched the forum but can’t find anything that mentions vibration both under braking and at speed.
Thanks for any help given.

Cheers, I’ll probably try this first but would it be worse under braking if the wheels/tires need balanced. The car looks to have been sitting for quite a while without moving much before I got it.

Sticky calliper? Front wheel bearing?

Check the heat of each wheel after a small drive and if one is hotter than the other, then this will likely be the cause.

Obviously don't touch the wheel/disc if its likely to be very hot!!

As the guys have said,, wheel balance and / or sticky caliper. I've had the same issue, the very small vibration through the steering wheel turned out to be an out of shape front wheel. Vibration under braking was a sticky caliper, more noticable through the brake pedal, front wheel bearing will be more noticable when driving round a bend.
I don't think I would go down the road of skimming discs though,, replace with new if they are worn or warped. 2010 RRS, TDV8
bali Blue / colour coded
side steps / flappy paddles
black perforated leather
22" overfinch
heated everything, TV,fridge ...... now with gold calipers and mud flaps !( black mud flaps that is) !!

Front lower arm bushes will cause this too. If they're original on a 2007 then they're due a change. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I’ve checked the Cali per temperatures and they both seem pretty similar. Warm but not too hot.
I’m booking it in for the wheel balancing as a first stop. Is the bush replacement an expensive job if it’s that?

And will a garage be able to tell straight away if it’s the bottom bones or the bushes?
Thinking after the wheel balancing I just stick it in somewhere to get it look at (unless it’s fixed of course)and make a few suggestions as per what’s been said on this post.
It’s a long shot but anyone know a good garage for Range Rovers in Aberdeen. Not keen to put it too the main dealer.

Don't know about Aberdeen but MMP in Dundee would be a worthwhile trip down @Disco_Mikey is a regular on here and an LR specialist.

Just a thought - if the car had, as you say, been sitting for a while - tyres flat-spotted? MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.
