1 month in and this

Only my second post and unfortunately it’s not a good one! My missus is using the car today and the engine management light has made an appearance. I have spoken to landrover today who have advised getting it booked in straight away. Hopefully nothing serious, only had the car 1 month. They told me the car was still ok to drive providing no loss of power or performance issues which there isn’t.

I called them today and they advised getting it to a dealer, apparently LR assist ran out on this vehicle in March this year. Is it worth renewing? And at what cost? The car has a 6 month jaguar/landrover approved warranty on it.

I bought the car from an independent, I’m in County Durham (Newton Aycliffe) I will up date my profile eventually. Any ideas how minor or major this could be?

Get a cheap Bluetooth OBD dongle and an App and you can diagnose yourself. This way if you ever use the car for what it designed for and get caught out in the bush you can resolve some of the issues or at least know if the issue needs you to stop. I use OBD auto doctor and have found it OK for resetting faults and learning what a fault is. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

Google is your friend here. Mine was expensive and cheaper alternatives are available.

My light came on the other day, I plugged in my 12 year old cheap obd code reader. The code reader told me the exhaust temperature difference across the scr catalyst was out of the acceptable limits. I cleared the code and took the car for a 20 mile run. That was a month ago and it hasn’t re-occurred. Think my wife had been dawdling around in it locally Whistle

Thanks for the info. I’m working away from home at the minute, my missus has got in the car today and the EML has gone on its own. Strange. My mate is going round today any way to see if the code is still there using his reader. Any body else’s came on and gone off by itself?

Hi Guys, just returned home from working away, the EML light has been going on and off for my wife the three weeks I’ve been away. I plugged in a reader yesterday and the code is P049B. Google say -

A stored code P049B means that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected a malfunction in the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system "B" flow for a particular step-down setting.

Can anybody give anymore info on this before I get it into LR. Should I just wipe it myself? Cheers any info would be appreciated

I'd do a reset and then see if it returns. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.
