IID Tool - what settings did you add/change?

I'm wondering what is the most popular settings changed/improvements you guys have made with your or paid for changing with a IID Tool? Mine arrives tomorrow for my 2012 RRS L320 hopefully..... Mr. Green

I'm rather hoping there's a DRL setting for my RRS?

So in advance which is the most popular setting changes? Hopefully this will turn into a long thread.... Very Happy Cheers Laurence.

As Col said, I played with the DRL settings and you only get the normal lights on. Which if you actually have the proper Dealer fit DRLs will stop them working lol. 2012 5.0 SC AB

So no setting for just sidelights (the LED's) to come on when the engine is running? I'll still have to turn them on myself with the switch - how disappointing.... Sad

Just checked the online instructions for the IID Tool re installing the software for the FBH and it only seems to cover Fuel Priming & Check Operation Nothing mentioned re installing the settings for timed operation?? Cheers Laurence.

Think I found it: Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

For 2010 and up vehicles fitted with a FBH (not the electric heater)
IIDTool Menu->Car Config->HVAC Ventilation->

FBH Call Start is equal to Fitted radio. This is the one related to the remote.
Fuel Burning Heater is equal to Fitted parking heat
Timed Climate is equal to Enable Cheers Laurence.

Posted this 3-4 years ago about what you can actualy get with the DRL's in the CCF files.

Have gone into the CCF files and there are three options listed on my car a MY13 A/B 5.0L S/C.

1. DRL Standard
2. Scandinavian
3. Canadian

I activated Standard and all that did was give me two Fault Codes B124A-15 and B124B-15 which are Left and Right Daytime Running Light open Circuit but no working DRL's so it may be when you have either DRL lamp kit VPLSV0064 or 65 fitted you may have to activate this but that is purely a guess. By the way those kit's are over 400.00

De-activated that and then activated Canadian and what that did was nothing with ignition on and Engine Running, however when you engage Drive and let the Park Brake Off it Switched Front and Rear Side Lights and Dipped Headlights On, as soon as you apply P/B and take it out of Drive It switches them Back Off.

Again De-activated that and Activated Scandinavian and what that did was as soon as you Start Engine it Switched on Front and Rear Sidelights and Dipped Headlights. (Muddy was correct there).

There is no facility that I could find to just activate the Front Fairy Lights on there own as DRL's.

I hope that all makes some kind of sense.

Cheers
Col

They may have come down a bit?
https://www.lrdirect.com/VPLSV0064-Kit-Daytime-Running-Lamp/

But rather have the LED's come on around the headlights, not bothered if the rears come on as well. Maybe the dealer can switch them on? It cant be hard to hardwire the sidelights to come on when the ignition is on can it? Surely somebody on here has done it? Cheers Laurence.

Sounds good Stephen - where did you get the puddle lights? Any pictures? Cheers Laurence.

I did the following mod on mine so that the LEDs within the headlight units are on whenever the ignition is on (or when the car is 'awake').

Obviously they aren't as bright as proper DRLs, but when it's a little overcast they are definitely bright enough to be seen, which is when you need them the most.

Now I am not a auto electrician and not going to pretend to be one, but would this not work. As pin 2 in the headlamp plug is the sidelight, and if you have AFS lights then pin 14 is a ignition live, disconnect pin 2 wire from the plug and take a feed from pin 14 to pin 2 position in the plug, "not the wire you disconnected" that would then give a live feed to the sidelight to put them on as soon as ignition is turned on. If you then connect a small bulb holder with something like a 5w bulb in it to the wire you removed from position 2 on the headlight plug, this would then illuminate as soon as you put the actual lights on to stop and faults appearing, you could always tuck the holder out of site somewhere under the bonnet so it doesn't show. The only issue I can see is if you put the sidelights on without ignition you will not have front sidelights, unless of course you can use a diodes in the circuit somehow to prevent a back feed when ignition turned on and actualy reconnect the sidelight wire back to pin2. As I said not a auto electrician so probably talking complete and utter rubbish. Rolling with laughter

Cheers
Col
