| Tyrefitter Member Since: 19 Jul 2015 Location: Bridlington East Yorkshire Posts: 3677      | I agree too,they are lying,I sold a my14 ab sdv6 WITH only 33000miles flrsh 12 months approved warranty remaining on car,the chap who bought the car for good money as it had warranty had it 2 weeks & the crankshaft failed & LR would not fix/repair under the approved warranty & told the customer it’s £18500 plus vat for a new engine.Please don’t listen to anything those salesmen tell you,& for the bit were they say they haven’t heard of the issue then they are probably lying again as it’s even been in some of the car mags & national papers.

| fkarim Member Since: 14 Apr 2012 Location: London Posts: 2216    | As others have said above, you are being lied to on 3 accounts: a) extended warranty being the same as LR/manufacturer warranty; b) extended warranty covering the crank issue; and c) salesman and service guys being unaware of the issue, unless ALL of them are new to the brand.

| Tim in Scotland Member Since: 30 May 2005 Location: Driving along in my automobile Posts: 17476    | There is another issue that you need to be aware of and that is the oil dilution issue with Sd4 and SDv6 engines, again due to a design fault. Not every car suffers with it BUT if your car needs to do a lot of DPF regenerations and the dash indicator shows more frequent serving than is acceptable then you have the issue too.

This isn’t new news, it’s been known for several years since JLR opened its own engine plant near Coventry.

You'll get 2 years warranty from the point you buy it, made up of the original warranty to 3 years post original purchase, plus used-approved for the rest. The 5 year service pack covers the first 5 services - either annually or at 16,000 mile intervals.
