No, it just takes time for the battery to charge. There's power available, but nothing can get around the time issue of short journeys. It's like chargers - a bigger charger can charge a bigger battery, but it won't charge a smaller battery faster because the battery isn't designed to do such. |

Once the car is started it should be running off power generated by the alternator not the battery (I assume as this is the traditional way alternators work).

A bigger alternator won't help, unless your short trips involve having the climate control on Max. or loads of heaters on.
