Get warmer quicker, stay hotter and save fuel

I've found that by using the Econ button on the heating system it warms up faster and also means I don't need to have the temperature up to maximum to stay warm.

It cuts off the air con pump, thereby saving a little fuel along the way and seems to be much hotter.

Then you only need use the air con when its hot or when you need to dry the air to prevent steamed up windows.

leaving the AC compressor turned off will eventually lead to bacteria growing on the evaporator - this leads to a smelly socks / cabbage smell and 'could' lead to infections too (I didn't say that right Neutral )

One needs to turn on the A/C once a month or so even in winter, otherwise the compressor might get dry. This is what I heard, I could be wrong.

Correct. No need to have AC on during the winter.

Hi tf9,

So we should or shouldn't turn on the A/C once in a while.

Hey Smile
You should turn it on for about 20-30mins once per month. Rest of the time you can safely drive with ECON mode ON Smile 2008 Range Rover Supercharged Vogue S\E, Java Black, Ebony. 22" Overfinch Tiger alloys.

There is a mod to make the temperature more accurate as you may find that you are forever turning up the temp on a longer run just to keep warm.
This is due to the temp sensor (behind the dash) picking up heat from the radio etc and so giving a false reading.
The mod is basicly a foam sock that goes over the sensor.
Ten minute job at the dealers.

This is the TSB for the 'sock' I should think it is the same for the D3 and RRS though you would have to check this.
Later cars should have it already fitted at the factory.
