I’ve just done my renewal. Unfortunately A Plan couldn’t get close to my renewal of £170 with Admiral. I rang them up and said I had done the usual suspects and got cheaper for same cover with another years NCD, £162 was her reply. Then she goes on to explain this multicar + Home malarkey. I can add the CEO when hers expires and again home insurance but they’ll all finish on the same date next year.

I renewed last year with Admiral multi cover as my Aviva quotes were getting to be a bit silly. Admiral gave me the best price, then also proceeded to give me a like for like cover on my house for a third of Aviva's price. I'm hoping this year's renewal is as favourable!! 2010 RRS, TDV8

I've been with Aviva for some years now with Multicar (RRS + Saab 93 Aero) and house. Its always seemed pretty reasonable to me until this year when I thought I'd have to go through the motions of looking elsewhere. However I phoned them just to check and they immediately dropped the price. So this years renewal was £306 for the RRS and £200 for the Saab.

How do you get on when moving back to single vehicle policies as a while back I read that with some insurers the NCB was applied to 'the policy' which meant only 1 car could end up with it, in effect probably tying you into the policy with having to start fresh NCB with the other car? At the time I read that, I had my Defender and P38 with NFU and due to their prices rocketing I was much cheaper going with separate policies elsewhere but thankfully the NFU gave separate NCB's. 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

That is a very good point about having only one no claims bonus on a multi car policy. If that's so, you are locked in to multicar policies or it can be very expensive to change back to individual policies. I shall leave mine on single policies. Time to shop around for the Jag policy, still got a month before its up |

with admiral you get a separate policy for each car so the NCD and everything else stays separable. You just get a bigger discount the more policies you have. we're changing over to LV multi-policy as we change cars in the family and they're beating Admiral on price easily. They wanted twice the premium for my Jimny so it was cheaper to lose the discount from admiral and switch one policy to LV.

Good Thought! I just checked with Aviva and they say that, with them, whoever is listed as the main driver for each car will earn separate NCB. So if you are the main driver on more than one vehicle, then you will earn NCB on each. For my wife and I, I am listed as main driver on the RRS and she on the Saab so we are continuing to earn NCB in our own right. Admiral don't like you having different main drivers. (or maybe it just pushes the price up alot) |

We have five cars on an Admiral multi-policy with four different main drivers and the only person who is on them all (me) is not the main driver of any of them. |
