Windscreen Smear

Hi
when using the wipers, I get a smear directly in from the drivers view, seem to remember something about this, but cannot find the thread. has / does anyone else encounter this issue? and has it been resolved? find it very distracting and dangerous.

Hi,

There's a modified wiper arm & blade (I think).

I had the same problem, changed the wiper blades for Bosch "Flat" blades (available from Halfords or the ubiquitous internet auction site) and not had a problem since!

The above link will take you to the original posts. For what it is worth the Bosch blades I mentioned in that earlier topic are still working with no smear and I am delighted with them as the smear issue is a real nuisance. Still on the original screen - now 2 1/2 years old.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Having just had a new windscreen fitted I also replaced the wiper blades that were nearly 2 years old - I bought them from my local dealership and have been impressed with no smearing and also no rumbling when the auto-on thinks I have a wet screen when it is quite dry! Problem now for me is how to replace the rear blade because try as I might I cannot get the rear wiper to park anywhere other than in the normal parked position............... which is darned hard to get at. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

The only way I found to replace the rear wiper blade was to undo the nut on the spindle to allow the arm to drop down. You have to give it a tug to break the grip on the taper. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Did you fit longer than OEM spec to get a wider wipe at the passenger side? There's an odd unwiped spot right n front of the passenger on mine. ... 2022 P440e AB

UPDATE

Hi
have just fitted the Bosch Wipers as recommended. not over impressed about having to buy my own when there is clearly and issue, but it seems to have resolved the problem, however they have only been on for a day....
