Trev where did you get the Drl's from? Do you have a link?

Look very smart and OEM.

I got my originals from sparky on the forum but been having trouble with my near side headlight recently when it does the self levelling jig on start up it doesn't always come back up and stays facing down so got some more lights and Sparky hasn't got anymore so I've got the Dabhees version but might try removing the diffusers over the led's for a cleaner look.

Hi all,

So, I got the rings back from Mr Electrician today. He's done a pretty good job on them.

What I'm thinking now is, on cars with the angel eyes as standard, are they on the entire time, just like DRL's, or do they function like side-lights, i.e when switched on? I'm thinking that they should function as drl's hence on all the time when the ignition is live.

Anyone here know?

that's gonna be difficult TrevG without some sort of resistor. My DRL's dim when the headlights are on so it would make sense. I'll wire them to the ignition live and then do some testing to see if they are too bright at night when the headlights are on. If they are, I'll have to make the change you suggest. This thread along with watching some videos of disassembling headlights has given me the confidence to try this.
You guys who have pioneered this....I salute you!

Can I ask some questions?

Changing the polished reflector to satin black:
This is totally legal and does not need to be polished and reflective?
Is the polished reflector plastic?
If so, what is it sprayed with?....something like Plasticote so it's flexible?

The amber reflector:
Does it remove easily to be replaced with a clear an adapted clear lens?

Ring fixing:
How did you attach your rings?.....picture wire, epoxy or hot glue gun?

Thanks so much,

Gaz. Thumbs Up

Just a little update. The rings arrived and they turned out to be useless. Two of the led's on one ring stopped working after an hour. Simply wasn't confident in the other three after that. British quality at its finest. No wonder I outsource a load of my work further East. Anyway, I ordered then the dabhees rings and they are excellent quality. I took the reflectors off and wrapped them in carbon fibre film. End result:

Praying I have these headlights ready for tomorrow. Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

it's a job and a half, can't wait to get it finished. I'm painting the internals carbon black just to make it more difficult for myself Big Cry Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

the lens was a pain in the rear end. heat gun and lots of patience. putting it back on is simple though Mr. Green

the internals are being primed, then matte black, then silver spray for the carbon effect, then a light dusting again with black, then gloss. e voila (I hope).

good luck...you're gonna need it. The question is how you gonna connect yours? I have a dimmer module so my rings come on with the ignition live. will yours do the same? Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

I'm collecting all sorts.
I've ordered a dimming DRL controller that just connects to the battery terminals and has a main headlight connection to detect a current for dimming.
Have some double sided 3M tape ordered plus I have some special super glue and spray activator.
Also have a 12v tester coming.
I was hoping you weren't gonna say it was tough getting the lens off! I was born with a photographic memory. Shame it didn't develop!

brilliant. i've connected the white and red wires from the rings to the live wire on the dimming module.

oh yes one more thing. i've cleaned the lens thoroughly. oven cleaner (1) then 2500 wet and dry, then a polish. makes all the difference. Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.
