Hoping for some advice here so I don't break anything
I have a leak from the join in two parts of internal trim. Water is coming out of the join in the area just below the red line in the pic.
Passenger side, rearmost pillar (the rear hatch).
First thing I think is to remove the angled trim part.



How does this come off? Straight pull away towards the centre of the boot or something else?
Do I need to get some replacement clips on order as I don't have a lot of faith in plastic trim clips, especially in this cold weather.

Did you get a fix for this as I have the same leaks on both sides.

I had same fault, was fixed by replacing the sunroof drain tubes and a replacement of a clip that was on a technical bulletin from JLR, not sure what the clip was or does as it was sorted under warranty

Not fixed yet, seems to be worse when the weather was much colder. Advice generally points to the drain pipes on the sunroof, but as yet not had a chance to remove the roof trim. I'm a bit scared of snapping all the clips. RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

So you need to check the drain tubes are still secured to the drain holes, you need to take the rubber door seal off the around the door frame where the rear seats are , you can the pull headliner down and check you should be able to fit your hand in and see/feel the rubber drain tube just check it is securely attached to the drain nipple from the sunroof, if it feels crusty and loose then its come away with corrosion.

You need to fit a new grummet or a nut with a head through the original drain hole, seal it and attach it to the drain tube, its a straight forward job but a PIA with the headliner.

Check this thread out here - sorry its on another forum me and a few other guys mainly in the US have done some repairs to reseal/renew the drain holes.

BTW there is no official fix for this, JLR say its a full new sunroof as the drain nipple are apart of the sunroof cassette frame! £5-6k!

Its a hugely common issue and porbably 60-70% of owners dont know its happening until the amp blows under the passenger seat as thats where the water usually goes.

Thanks for all the advice and the links, although in my experience trim never just 'pops off' without snapping clips. Any guidance on a technique for the strips alongside the sunroof? RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

The clips on the sunroof are different to interior clips, the sunroof trims push down onto a fixed screwed in clip so you can really snap them, you need a plastic trim removal tool, stick it under the rubber gasket then turn it 90 degrees keep doing this along the black plastic trim and it will all just pop off.
Stick a microfibre cloth over the metal part of the car that runs above the doors as you do it to stop any scratches.

Getting the trim off seems pretty easy but what about replacing it after the repair? Does the original trim piece and clips go back into place just as easy or are replacement parts required.

The trim piece on the internal D pillar should clip back ok, even the screw behind the airbag badge locates easy enough. Had the external roof trim off a couple of times, comes off with a frightening sound but does go back ok. Necessary in order to repair he drain lines. In my case I just wanna take the roof trim trim off and have a visual inspection, worried about being able to replace it afterwards as originally situated because cannot find any replacement parts.

Dont worry, this roof trim can be removed by your fingers. Its retained by a number of metal 'wedges' along the length of the strip. Just open the sunroof fully to get a good grip. Feels wrong when taking it off, but it goes back fine. You are correct, this must be removed for a visual inspection or repair. RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014
