DAB "no reception"

Hi I know this appears to be a common fault, and I found a post saying just to replace the DAB unit so I tried that but it didn't help - I've got exactly the same problem, so either both are faulty or its a different issue altogether!

I've found the component location diagram in the workshop module. Item 20 (FM2/DAB3/VICS antenna amplifer) appears to do both DAB and FM (which is working in mine). Could it be this that is causing my DAB issue?

Any help very much appreciated!

Thanks

Rob

Hi Clarker

Have you had any joy? I've lost DAB and TV since a battery change. I'm searching high and low on the interweb for clues but with no luck yet. If I sort it out, I'll post here.

Cheers

I had a couple of internal module faults. Fitted a replacement module today and no codes, but there is still no dab signal! Does anyone have a pic of the DAB amplifier unit? I’m wondering if it’s possible to fit a stick on aerial which would plug into the dab module.

Is this the aerial amplifier unit?

I had no DAB for a while in our Evoque. Told it could be a profile issue. Deleted profile from car after signing out from inControl. Turned off/on again and recreated profile. Parked car in guaranteed good reception area (full bars) and waited patiently. After about 10 mins all DAB stations re-appeared and have stayed ever since.

Worth a try?

I gave up on the DAB issue. Yes I believe the fault is the amplifier - but the consensus appears to be that the DAB radio is rubbish anyway, and I can stream any content from my phone through a BT adapter/aux socket. Hence I didn't proceed with trying to fix it. If you get it fixed please post the results.

Note that I have found the FB L320 group way more useful/active than this website....so I hardly ever come here.

And inControl appears to be something new which I am not sure are on anything before a major OS upgrade for the ICE. Certainly there's nothing like that for my 2010 facelift model.

Having spent a bit more time looking for it on the interweb , its really confusing... none of the adverts I can see have "DAB" in any of the titles. and there appear to be many different amplifiers with different part numbers... have you managed to get yours out from under the roof lining? there are two so worth googling those part numbers to see what you can eventually work out is the DAB one....

I haven’t. I hoped the new module would sort the issue, which it hasn’t! I then found a bit of info about plugging a normal dab aerial into one of the aerial connections on the module, but it still won’t work. I’m not spending any more time on it and will just use phone linked to aux.

call me stupid, but I decided to look in more detail.

so there are two items in mine. the grey one you showed and the blue one.

the part numbers appear to be meaningless on any Land rover spares website (WTF) - looking online the blue part appears to be XUI500071, but again I am not sure.

I am split on which one does what as nowhere I can search for has a specific description, just "amplifier".

I could order both, the slight risk is that the one you get is broken also as this is a common fault... but I'm tempted to try both, just to see if it fixes it. £26 on a range rover is paltry... Wink

I'll order them and see.

Subsequently I've spotted another image, if this is true (haha), item 6 is the DAB one - which relates to the grey one in my picture. I'll try that one first I guess... What an awful piece of documentation!

Is that the passenger or drivers side photoed?

Other one does the radio I expect.
Turn the radio on the FM. Pull the power connector out. See if radio stops or goes mono

yes, passenger side. I have contemplated doing that. But I'll do it when I have both replacement parts to hand. I don't think I've ever seen such awful technical documentation. strange that there appears to be FM aerials and amplifiers both sides (I've not checked the driver side to prove whats over there.. but I might just for completeness).

My drivers side had lost power, and the FM was just mono

Looking at a old Microcat epc, the the DAB amplifier is the grey one part no. LR016258 on Vin No. up to BA999999 fitted on the N/S, from Vin No. CA000001 on it is L/R029702 and is fitted on the O/S assuming the illustration are correct.

Cheers

thanks for the replies. I bought the grey part but no joy though. Exactly the same (No reception on DAB2). I had already replaced the DAB unit (behind the drivers side/boot rear trim). Even if I leave the amplifier completely unplugged there's no change to the status on the screen.

I half expected this but I thought it was interesting to have a go. Obviously I'm a glutton for punishment (although I know this is a simple task vs most on a Range Rover, so I mustn't complain really)

I hate removing the headlining - it always gets creased and dirty whenever you do these sorts of things.

Definitely not worth trying IMHO just rely on streaming.
