where to place front end Axle Stands

Hi, i need to jack up my V8 Range Rover Sport, 2007 model. i need advice on where to place my Axle Stands. i will be using the cars own Jack to lift it, then hopefully place the stands.. but where is the safest place.

Can anyone post a picture of a suitable place on the front corners to help me.

im about to change my starter motor - laying on my back.. under the car.

The place to put the stands is the same place that you put the jack. I'd strongly suggest you get a bottle jack or a trolley jack and avoid using the emergency jack provided with the vehicle. It's not very good and has been known to fail. If you're doing these types of project DIY, a trolley jack really is a must. You can then jack the front end up on the front subframe in one go and put the stands under chassis rails at the jacking points.

2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

there are 2 gurders that run along the car. They are about 12" in. Use these.
Careful not to damage the air tank on the passenger side.

Buy a discovery 2 red bottle jack off ebay. Well worth it.
The factory one is hopeless for even 1 use

Most of us bite the bullet and buy a high lift trolley jack, something like this;

A bit of a chunky monkey to get out of the shed, but worth it for peace of mind when lifting the car.
