2006 Sport. The rear sensors have a mind of their own!! 50/50 they work correctly when I engage reverse - or - they stay permanently on for no reason. The local Range Rover people have had a look at the problem a couple of time (when I'm in their garage they work correctly...naturally). They have checked the system with a computer and suggest its most likely to be an electrical fault. I'm in France - computer not telling them exactly where the problem is, so, hands in the air, that's that. Can anyone out their advise me of the likely cause of the problem if it is an electrical? Andrew Kennedy

it will be one sensor at fault.

When this happened to me, I carried around my IID.
When the fault occurs, plug it in, read the live values of the rear sensors.

The one that is reporting a short distance 0.5m when not parked near anything is faulty

I believe some find it possible to listen by each sensor and hear which one is not working.

If it is electrical its not a hugely difficult job to get the rear bumper off and have a look at the loom. (If I can do it then anyone can). When I did this to fix mine, I found that someone had already done a botched wiring job on the original LR wiring. My guess is that the LR wiring leaves a lot to be desired.

Have a decent can of chassis paint on hand when you remove the rear bumper - its pretty horrible in there sometimes 2012 SDV6 HSE (technically its hers)

Rob, thanks for the input!! When you say 'broken wire in the loom' - after I've taken the bumper off and cleaned the area, should it be relatively simple to find the break? the phrase LOOM conjures up a mass collection of wiring. Andrew Andrew Kennedy

I can't speak for RobPs experience but when I took the bumper off mine, it was quite obvious where there was a problem (see the link I posted above where the red wire is just broken). And at this part of the car the "loom" is just a few wires. Nothing complicated.  Robin
