Did you notice a repetitive squeak from the engine after you'd switched it off for about 10-15 seconds - sounds a bit like a boy-scout's bunk bed?

Mine does this, wondering if its the actuators cleaning and squeaking because they are about to seize...
Might try getting in there somehow to lube them...

The squeaking after shut down is the EGRs cycling to ensure they don't jam up. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Turbo's or EGR's, should they squeak? If its a sign of something, what can I do about it?

Cheers Question

At least if the turbo actuator rods are squeaking you know something is moving! The rods can be lubricated from below if you remove the plastic shielding but its a long reach up to them. Search the forum and you'll find various ingenious methods including straightened out coathanger with tubing zip tied it used as a means of extending the reach of teflon spray.

If my EGRs are typical then you'll hear a high pitched buzz on key off that goes on for a surprisingly long time. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Had my suspension re-callibrated today by a local indy (Oakfields - stockton). Whilst in there I mentioned it to the chap and he said that there are several things which cycle when the ignition is switched off - the egr's, the turbo actuators, the throttle bodies, the air flaps and something else apparently??

Anyway, first class service from this indy today - squeezed me in as an emergency and did the calibration for free Thumbs Up
