Mmmm, I so want to know what is causing this too.

Is this inlet manifold ? What pipe is this and where is the other end connected to ? (Intercooler or turbo maybe ??)

Have you had the turbos replaced ? - how about a local/friendly Independent centre that you can ask ? If not you could try calling Rob @ Rovertune in Berkshire - he's a helpful guy with oodles of experience that could help.

Valve stem seals ? Turbo oil feed/gaskets ? Intercooler ? Am clutching at straws I know but it seems like you've gone around the usual culprits with a fine tooth comb..........

Turbos have been done, these pictures are the ends of the inlet manifold where they join on to each bank at the rear of the engine, its the wrong colour to be stem seals, car is in Ibiza till October so cant take it anywhere spiteful Range Rover Sport tdv8

Give Rob @ Rovertune a buzz, + 44 118 950 2777 - explain the car is out of the country and you really need 2 minutes expert opinion. I'll sort him out a drink for you next time I'm in there.

Tried Rob but he suggested all the areas iv checked, only thing left is to remove the ic and check it over properly spiteful Range Rover Sport tdv8

sorry to make this thread live again , did you get to the bottom of the black smoke ?

Rocker covers, they have the inlet manifold incorporated in to them and had cracked. So on boost, pressure was getting in to the breather system on over run it was sunking oil out of the Rocker.

thanks for getting back to me, I am having dramas with black smoke on acceleration. been in to 2 different independents land rover specialists and neither could tell me whats up with the poxy motor. Diagnostics are reading no problems and have had the inter-cooler inspected , EGR's are working normal also.

i'll have a look into the rocker cover/inlet manifold , glad you got sorted in end anyway.
