RRS 2008 tailgate problems

My 2008 RRS just came back from the garage after the alternator went and while the car was in, they called to tell me the lower tailgate was not working. We had this problem rectified no more that 6 months ago and now it has happened again? Can this be right!? I have tried everything I can think of and the garage has said it needs a new part ordering which means + labour is not going to be even more so after coughing up 700 for anew alternator + labour today!! Big Cry

Any ideas on how I can release the boot manually? Or electronically ?

Mike

To confirm, neither part of the tailgate is working.

Thank

Hi M'
what part are thy saying needs replacing ?
If it is the same as you had done before is there no warranty from the first repair.

not heard of both top and bottom not working Exclamation our top hatch did not work when we bought the car, usual suspect it was the switch that needed replacing, did a clean up fix soon after buying it, but needed a new switch in the end, easy job to do if its just that ?

Thumbs Up

Spain

Could be something as simple as lowering the tailgate in order to close it, but with your fingers on the upper tailgate release.
I did this on mine, what happened on mine, was you are asking the upper tailgate to open as you have your fingers on the release switch and as soon as the lower tailgate touches the bottom latch, the auto close function tries to function, the result was that neither top not bottom tailgate would open and the bottom tailgate was not fully latched.

Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.
