Tailgate will not open 2008 Sport

Closed the tailgate will a over full boot, the tailgate caught on the first catch now I have an semi open tailgate, it will not open on either the key fob or the button on the lower tailgate. The top half of the tailgate opens perfectly.

Is there an emergency opening method. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Cairns Blue

I know if the top part isn't closed properly the bottom will not operate. I recently changed the opening button as it did not always open and had gone grey, but to do this you have to have boot open to get panel off. Am not aware of an emergency opening procedure. I know after my experience, I removed my dog guard so I had access to boot via back seats. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈

Also noticed that I have just lost the phone, so maybe the Bluetooth module and electric tail gate lock share a fuse. Just got to find the handbook now, I know I put it some place safe ? In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures

Tried that initially, all it does is set the alarm off.
Mine is a 2008 with the electric closing tailgate latch. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures

Hi Bodsy
Tried holding both buttons down both with ign off and ign on.
Bluetooth phone connection is working again, I just re-paired the phone.
The top half of the tailgate was still working OK, however that has now stopped working as well.
Been to stealer who had a quick look at the fuses, all seemed OK, However I had checked them ALL anyway.

Driving home from stealer-ship, I heard a radio station from the tail gate / sub woofer area, only low volume though, I had this background radio station as well as my normal radio station playing together, also had this background station if CD was being played, so looks like something is supplying a back feed, maybe a relay.

Even though the tailgate is semi locked (seems like it's on the first catch) the dash display keeps saying tailgate open, also just noticed that the fuel flap does not lock when the doors are locked. All 4 doors lock OK although the horn gives a blast, also all the interior lights stay on. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures

Wrong info, the radio station I could hear in the back of the car was coming from a mobile phone that the mechanic had left in the boot area, it was some music he had on his phone that I could hear........so no back feed. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures

Little update

Still not working, tried pushing in the middle of the lower tailgate when operating the boot release, I should also point out that there is no noise / sound from the electric latch whatsoever. Car is booked in the dealership on Monday, so could be a big bill in the offering, Big Cry however the car is still under Land Rover extended warranty. Whistle

Will post update as soon as we know the problem Thumbs Up In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures

Tailgate working, no new parts needed, just a strip down of the trim from inside the car Thumbs Up

Warning.
I have been told not to lower the tailgate via the centre of the handle bit above the number plate, the part that houses the number plate lights and upper tailgate release switch. What is suspected is that I had a hand /finger on the upper tailgate release whilst lowering the tailgate, resulting in the top half opening whilst the lower half in in the process of locking.

Expensive lesson, Big Cry I will now just slam it from now on. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures

Glad you got it sorted.

Three years ago I found it difficult enough to remove the tailgate trim with the tailgate open let alone closed. (I wanted to get at the tailglass lock to adjust it.)

I too initially used the obvious "handle" ie the opening switch on the tailglass - to close the tailgate until I found the two well hidden handholds built into the tailglass each side of the number plate lights. I have used these ever since and not had any more mislocks.
In case you haven't found them I have shown their location below. Sorry about the quality of the picture but it is an old one I happened to have.
