Side running boards

RRS HSE 2010 - Running boards - Side Steps

Guys, are these really meant to be stepped on, lol

Really annoys me when pick up friends etc and they insist and standing on these to get in the car, I’m not only thinking from a (when you have cleaned them POV) but also from a (scared they will snap) especially if there original part and the other person is (on the large side) lol

Any thoughts ?

You can always look under the car and check the brackets, never heard of one failing though 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

Mine are going and will need a new set next year. I noticed a rusty flap hanging down and had a look underneath. The mounting brackets are rusty but ok, whereas the underneath of the foot panel is decidedly patchy. I’ve had this set on 6 years now. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

Mine is a 2007 running boards fitted from new , no signs of being weakened at all.

The side steps are decently robust and certainly up to being stood on - that's what they're for, after all. I used to have them on my TDV8 (they were on when I bought it) and they survived some off road work pretty well - went around Eastnor LRE and even though they rubbed on the sides of tracks, and over humps, they never failed.

If you don't like them getting muddy from people standing on them, then you have the problem, not the side step. Wink Cool 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
