Mine had polyurethane when I purchased it , they were all removed by my indie when it went in for repairs & a service he doesn't recommend them at all, OE ones now on vehicle.

Personally I wouldn't have any car that didn't have a spare wheel , just seems daft that so many manufacturers supply new vehicles without one .
