Its snowing like mad here at the moment,its a good six inches here, drove the sport home down the lanes home from work, selected the snow setting, it was ok, not over impressed and the on my drive which is quite steep i stopped to open the gates and it was slipping and sliding all over the place when i come to move off.

i had to go to Stafford just after so i went in the Disco, and i hate to say it but it was much better in the snow, and it didnt slip or slide on the drive when i got home

maybee i was just being to carefull in the sport and i dont really give a about the Disco some of my Previous cars

Envoy, I thought the RRS was essentially a D3 in a pretty frock? Don't they share the same DNA?

I bet the only difference between the D3 and RRS in snow is the tyres. Some RRS are fitted with tyres that make theior performance in snow and ice really quite The D3's tend to have a slightly better tyre for such purposes. What you need is some deepish tread that runs side to side, rather than around, the tyre. The Conti's and F1 Wranglers on RRS have very little side to side (and what there is is very shallow grooves) which makes then bite into the snow like a toothless women biting an apple. Winter tyres are like giving that women a set of dentures .....

Sorry guys i was referring to the Disco 2 not the Disco 3, and i went out in that later that evening as well and i m definitely more impressed with that than the sport, as i said it could be something to do with the fact that i basically don't give a about the Disco, therefore i drove it differently, but it did seem to have better handling characteristics, or it could have been just down to tyres some of my Previous cars

Guys.. last night left at 7pm.. roads were still gridlocked.. and guess what.. my 335d couldn't even reverse off the flat carpark.. disengaged traction completely.. gave it full beans and powered my way out.

Then proceeded in traffic, to get stuck 3 times on upward inclines, traction on/off. 2/3 gear... NOTHING worked..
Kept reversing the car, then using the patch of clear ground i had created to blast off.. worked but the traffic kept stopping!

Worst was, digbeth high street, turning right.. traffic gridlocked, so rolling road, and we had to cross the major junction.. and a slight upward incline as the you entered the left carriageway.. and i got stuck proper!! guys behind got out of their cars, came forward, and said, mate turn off your traction.. i was like DUH! you reckon? its off.. tried it on, off, 2/3, even rolling just using the brake, and nothing.. spinning to .. ended up two guys basically put their weight on the boot, and off i went! nice chaps..

didn't get stuck again, till.. i rolled onto my drive, up the normal lowered kerb, soon as i touched the pavement with the rear wheels.. Stuck.. took me 10 mins to get on the drive, and resulted in me disengaging traction, giving it 4.5k revs, aimed straight at my house! and the A8 quattro sitting on the drive.. fortunately it did the trick and got onto the drive no probs..

Last night cancelled that meal, went out in the A8.. raised suspension, and it felt awesome.. 4 wheel drive bliss! amazing what a difference it makes.. bloody RWD.. who thought of it!?

I had a D3 for a month whilst my RRS was off the road. Like driving a barge, RRS's ugly sister!!!!

Got to say Kam, when i had my Beemer it only ever snowed once.

It was appallingly bad. The slightest incline would cause it to stop and just spin the wheels.

I think it was the combo of loads of low down torque and 255/35/18 rear tyres! Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award
