Cracked windscreen

I have obtained a largish crack in my windscreen - are the mobile fitters like Autoglass any good or should this be fixed by my LR dealer? 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

That's got to be a £50 excess/no-NCB-loss, insurance job VA? LR will probably only call in the experts, Autoglass, to do it using the same manufacturer's windscreen. Insurance almost certainly wont cover Main Stealer prices, you have to use their approved fitters. The likes of Autoglass are careful and used to doing all day long. Indeed, in reality, probably a better option that the 12 year old apprentice at the LR workshop. Ring Autoglass direct (0800 3289 290), they normally sort the insurance out for you. Good Luck! Confused

If it is a crack, you need a new screen. If it is a chip, someone like Autoglass should be able to repair it.

If you take your car to your stealer VA, he will only call out Autoglass as Brian has already said. I know this because they called out Autoglass to a cracked screen in my old Freelander.

One thing you do need to ensure is that when your screen is replaced, who ever does the job also replaces your A post trim clips. If this isn't done you will risk loosing your outer A posts next time you fly down the motorway. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. I think most dealers use Autoglass etc.

As TB says it is very important that they replace the post clips at the same time.
