road angel classic and RRS please help!!

hi all
we got out 2007 rrs tdv6 hse one week ago and really enjoying it. but please, please , please can you tell me how to get my road angel classic working on the dashboard

ive tried putting it nearer the corner at the bottom right but it doesnt find satellites, must i get an external ariel ?? as soon as i put it out of the window the satellites show up (3-5 of them)

also those of you who get it working in the corner how do you mount it on the dash? any pics about? putting the road angel in the corner of the dash seems to cause it to be at a poor angle etc

basically - love the car - missing the road angel !!
many many thanks
alex

mate you had any trouble with your road angel plus.. mine is dead.. battery issues.. and paulL's is dying too.. Gecko's was on when i drove his S4 to the last meet, but noticed his was plugged in too..

The guys i bought mine off, have not given me any problems and told me to send it back in a box just the unit and they'll send me a new one, but not sure i want another one.. may send the whole thing back and tell them to send me a normal road angel a wire one, and give me some money back.. i know its road angels first product with a rechargeable battery but i have seen/heard of thousands going wrong, so somewhere down the line someone has messed up big time getting these tested and out onto the market! i used to rave about them before, and still agree that when they work they are mint, and really do help.. but if they aren't working and you get flashed.. i will be well annoyed!!

I also had lots of problems with the sat-nav in the van, has something to do with the sun-reflective windscreen, so needed an external antenna and all works fine

so could be the same problem with the windscreen in the RRS, so just get an external antenna

The night before last weeks meet i went to update my RA on the PC. I did have the software on it so downloaded that to get the lasted update. But first it did a new firmware update half way the screen went red and i thought it was dead!! so just left it the way it was and called RA them self. Tec support rang me back very quick (hour or so) He told me what to do and the end it was all normal! Think this may help with a few problems it has! RRS TDV6 Gone but still around

Yes it's wired all i did was pop the trim off and push it back on but it may not be as easy as that in the RRS!

And to get it on to the roof i just ran it on the in side of the door there's just the right gap for it but this was in the van and not the RRS RRS TDV6 Gone but still around

Common problem with heated screens, the heater elements in the glass can block or reduce any signals coming through it (satellite signals etc), only solution would be an external antenna or place it where it can get sufficient signals through the side glass. Cheers

I have a Road Angel and it needs the Road Angel internal antenna which you fit to the the bottom right side of the screen where there's no heated screen element. No power required, plugs straight into the back of the unit and permanently sticks to the inside of screen, costs about £10, takes 5 mins to fit. Will not work, or not work as well, without it. Had same exactly problem with Mercedes SL and Freelander. When you change cars, take it with you. Good Luck! Wink

Mine's a Road Angel Classic (ie the older one, black with green lcd screen) and seems fine, I guess we don't quite understand what combinations work/don't or else something isn't consistent across units/cars???? Cheers

Apologies! Mine is indeed a New Road Angel, but I can fully appreciate your frustration as I can remember when I first encountered the problem and just couldn't figure out the reason. Good Luck!
