I think your options are a bit limited as It is not possible to manually check the level, it is not unknown for the sensor's to go faulty which is I believe a major job to replace on the diesel version, personally I would drain and check the quantity of oil in the engine to see how it compares to what is the correct amount for that engine and go from there.

It was serviced 4k miles ago and i reguarly check oil level and has always been at the full level,so i assume the oil level is fine but i dont know what else it would be other than the sensor |

I have read where people use some net curtain wire to poke down the fill/drain tube on the SDV6 engine. Maybe on the D4 forum for lengths etc. this can give you an indication of how much oil you have. Does not fix the sensor issue obviously if that is your problem. |

I took off the undertray today and noticed there is some oil on the bottom of the engine, i think it may be coming from the oil cooler, so im hoping this oil leaking has just ran down the loom and into the plug for the level sensor as there is a slight pit of oil in it when i unplug it, if this leak dosent fix it then its obviousy a faulty sensor, i have taken a few measurments today and it says oil level is fine |
