What’s the market like for the L320’s?

Hi All,

I’m thinking about letting my 2012MY L320 5.0 HSE S/C go. What do you think the market is like at the moment? I’ve had it for nearly 10 years. WBAC offer is derisory. I see them up for sale on Autotrader but, never sure if they move for the asking price or close to.

It’s a great car that’s been really good to own. If it’s only worth what WBAC reckon, should I keep it or let it go? If there’s any interest here, I’ll post some pictures but, it’s nice, silver, full extended black leather 73K with full LRSH.

Any interest? Cheers,

Stuart.

There are plenty of them around (fewer 5.0, of course) and everyone knows they are unreliable heaps (youtube is awash with people who've never owned one saying as such so it must be true) that cost a fortune to maintain.

That's what you're up against trying to sell an L320 these days. Add in 12-13 years old and there are plenty around and you have a situation where they aren't worth much. a few grand and that's it. If someone wants a 5.0 then they can get a L494 for not much more and have a more modern vehicle. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I'm in much the same predicament. While the 5.0 SC does hold a premium over the diesels, it's a very limited market

I toyed with with selling mine, but given the work it's had done, I'd rather keep it and use it occasionally than give it away for a fraction of what it's worth

There’s always a market for well loved vehicles especially if documented on specialist forums like this.
I’m looking at the exact same spec as yours for a future purchase… Whistle Thumbs Up * Current. 2024 D350 Defender 90. Too many modern gimmicks on it !
* GONE. 2012 RR Sport HSE SDV6 Orkney Grey. Now being piloted by RRSTDV8
* GONE: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Full Fat. Amazing piece of kit.
* Current. 1974 Lightweight 2.25L petrol. Old skool
I use www.glenrands.co.uk Great independent
* 1949 80" in family since 1975

Looks like we’ll have to wait for the bad weather before the prices pickup. I’m convinced the L320’s are way better cars than L494’s. Much more practical, lower at the back and the seats fold flat. Cheers,

Stuart.

There is a market for well-cared for examples, Rob, but it generally doesn't value the cars much above the rest of the available stuff, and it's always less than the seller thinks their car is worth (some real classics/rarities excluded, of course).

Funny thing is that when one looks at the stuff online, the shiny "nice" examples often have cheap tyres on naff aftermarket wheels. And the "service history" is as water tight as a colander. Finding a good one is going to be harder the older these cars get. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Agreed, other than more leg room in the back of L494, I think, the L320 is the more practical load lugger. Mine is regularly used with the seats folded flat to take stuff to the dump, move stuff for people, etc.. And the space under the rear seats is great for occasional need things such a tyre inflater, jump leads, etc..

L494 is great off road, however, with better ground clearance and many have active rear diffs too. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
