United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

The tailgate seat on the FFRR is a great thing. Because it folds up, it doesn't generally get as dirty as the boot floor does and it also means the back of your legs don't rub on the bumper and get dirty. You can just open the top part of the hatch leaving the lower section in place so leaning in to get stuff isn't any worse than the old split tailgate on the L320. Being able to open just the top means stuff can't fall out so easily when you open the boot. Also good for dogs.

Edit: oh, and the fold down section works well as a table at shoots - you can have it folded down to rest food and drinks on it whilst your clobber is all in the boot. Can't so easily do that with a traditional tailgate like on the RRS.

The split tail gate is one of the things that many Disco owners miss when comparing the D3/D4 with the newer D5. The D5 is equipped with a little fold down flap but that's pants compared to a big lump supported by proper cables like the FFRR rear lip.

The one thing I'm less keen on with the FFRR load bay arrangement is the solid folding parcel shelf. Unlike the roller blind type, it never fully retracts. But, it does work as a shelf so there is that good thing about it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
