Hi folks,

My 2005 Sport Supercharged drives great, but on smooth motorway after I’ve been driving for around 30-40 minutes, the ACE warning light comes on red (the one with the picture of the car with left and right arrows), and the car lowers itself on to the bump stops and it feels like I’m about to lose control. Great at 80+mph.

However…if I quickly turn the ignition off and back on again, the fault goes away, then after 15-30 seconds it comes back. Although not ideal this allows me to get where I’m going.

When I stop the car and leave it for a while, when I come back to it everything is fine, no warning lights and I can drive round town all week without the issue reappearing. Then as soon as I’m on the motorway again for over half an hour then problem reappears.

I’ve spent the last hour searching to see if this has been covered, and I’m sure it has, but I haven’t found anything on this problem.

Can you guys shed any light on this?

Here’s the info I pulled off the computer….

The EML has started coming on under WOT but I’ll post separately about that so as not to confuse the two issues.

Cross articulation is a ride height issue, be it a faulty sensor, wiring issue or poor calibration

Lovely…doesn’t sound too disastrous. As it’s an issue that’s presented “out the blue” would the ride height sensors be the best place to start? Especially as that’s probably the cheapest option.

I’ve been out playing with the air suspension settings and noticed the following which may be relevant….

When I select the off road height it tells me “vehicle raising slowly”

When I select the lowest mode “access” it immediately goes back into “extended” mode

All airbags are new so not leaking.

I replaced my pump and the "raising slowly" stopped. L320 Range Rover Sport 2008

I’m guessing that’s a separate issue to the other one then. I’ll order a replacement pump and see if that sorts the slow raising. I imagine it’s still on its original compressor so due a change no doubt.

Raising slowly message should only appear when the air reservoir is exhausted of its storage of air.

If you've put the suspension up and down a few times, there will be no reserve capacity, and the suspension will only rise from the compressor output. Once the car has refilled the reservoir, it should go back up again fairly quickly

As for the Extended mode when lowering, watch your ride height readings when lowering. If any of them stick at the same height, that's the corner to investigate first

The extended mode when lowering can be an indicator of an exhaust valve issue, can't it? Thinks it's not lowering because it's on an obstacle when really it's because the system won't vent because of the valve sticking. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Yes, it would, and does, but it also wouldn't cause a cross articulation issue.

It isn't impossible that there are 2 separate issues though
