LR time

You only got to watch LR time every sunday morning to see what a pile of crap these cars are Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.
The avatar is a picture of the man with a big cock.
Learned to 4x4 on 100 mile beach and Frazer Island QLD
Dont spend money on old cars you will never get it back

I do watch LR Time. It's very entertaining and informed me on the issues of the V6 Diesel engine - which they focus on extensively.
Whilst I am not stupid enough to think that any more than a small percentage of the V6s suffer from broken crankshafts and failed bearings, and having run the exact same engine to 130k in my Jaguar before selling it on (albeit with a suspect failed inlet manifold), I decided to get the new IL6 to avoid any concerns.
Other than that, LR time has shown me that these are brilliant, immensely capable, cars that are unique, and a joy to drive.

I tend to watch a large number of such channels and what I have learned is that no competitor brand is devoid of nasty issues. Whatever you get can have problems, but all are copies of the LR, so why not drive the original and the best?

Does that mean if I watch LR Time, my 165k mile SDV6 that is serviced according to LR's instructions will suddenly fail and be a heap of junk?

Good job I didn't watch that youtube channel when my TDV8 was sold with 175k miles on it. It, too, would have died to death on the driveway.

Or, perhaps, a bloke with an opinion who is trying to make money from youtube isn't the sole arbiter of LR reliability.

Go and research the concept of social media echo chambers and, perhaps, you'll realise that taking a single source of information that happens to reinforce your prejudices isn't the best way to get to the truth. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

People on social media platforms usually have controversial opinions, to encourage engagement (views/comments/shares etc) to be able to monetise their content

Make of that what you will Whistle

It's actually a shame they're being heaped in with all these hater morons that immediately say "Well it's a Landrover so it's going to be unreliable".

For anyone who hasn't seen "LR Time" - it's a very entertaining German couple who are through and through LR enthusiasts and buy and fix up broken Range Rovers and Discoverys. A lot of the ones they get have suffered V6 failures.
The guy is a precision engineer and knows an incredible amount about engineering in general and the V6 in particular. He goes through stripping them down, showing us the issues and causes, and rebuilding them to a level of precision that I doubt any engine refurbisher would contemplate, and his explanations, including the recommendation to use slightly different oil than LR recommend is very informative.
They recently highlighted the broken knuckle issue on L405s (theirs was fractured). They also show how to do other basic diagnostics and repairs on our cars. Well worth a watch.
