Strange Fault - Forward Looking Sensor - C1A67-78

Out of nowhere I have a fault: C1A67-78 (AF) Forward Looking Sensor - Alignment or Adjustment Incorrect. I had my RRS in for an oil change last week. Dealer told me they need to replace the radar bracket behind the bumper because it has been bent (they have no proof of this). My RRS has never been hit and I can't fathom how a bracket that sits in the bumper can get bent without some sort of contact. Dealer wants to remove the bumper etc. I am at a loss as I don't think the unit has come out of alignment.

My RRS is 5 years old, still on the original battery. Could a slightly failing battery cause this type of fault? 2020 SVR / R.I.P. 2019 SVR / 2016 D4 Landmark / 2005 D3 HSE

It must have had a good whack then, as the bracket sits within the crash bar and the radar sensor only slightly protrudes out of the crash bar.

Certainly more to this than the dealer is letting on!

My RRS has never been hit in the bumper therefor the bracket cannot be bent 2020 SVR / R.I.P. 2019 SVR / 2016 D4 Landmark / 2005 D3 HSE

There is a special JLR tool to align the bracket (a bit like a spirt level) as : -

but as you say how's it suddenly gone out of alignment???

Have you had any issues with the adaptive cruise control saying "sensor blocked" in the past?

I have not had any errors saying the sensor is blocked. Just the fault listed below indicating out of alignment. I have a Gap ID Tool, I wonder if there is a recalibration process I could try? I don’t trust the dealer to remove the bumper without damaging anything I assume it would be a dead end seeing as my RRS has never been hit. 2020 SVR / R.I.P. 2019 SVR / 2016 D4 Landmark / 2005 D3 HSE

I don't think there is anything on the IID to calibrate the sensor, Pathfinder will calibrate it with a drive cycle but that fault is saying it's too far out for a software calibration.

You may want to look at

I assume the adaptive cruise control is non functioning due to the error?

Thanks for sending the PDF. It references the bracket being pushed out of alignment at low speed, had I hit something or something hit me then I would 100% think it is that. However, that hasn't happened.

Yes, adaptive cruise drops out and is not available once the fault appears.

I wonder if water intrusion could have an impact on the wiring and cause this? I have an SVR with the hood vents that allows rain to drain down through the front.

I also wonder if a failing battery could result in this code. 2020 SVR / R.I.P. 2019 SVR / 2016 D4 Landmark / 2005 D3 HSE

Was it ok before it went in for service? Bottom line in my mind is; if it was ok before the service and then the problem appeared after the service, or whilst in service - then it's their problem.

Not beyond the realms of someone's shunted it whilst in their workshop? Don't think it doesn't happen, because it does!

The radar sensor is very well sealed so I don't think it will be related to water ingress or a connection issue, after all the code is specific and if it was water ingress it would set a code for internal electronic failure or similar.

Code happened before the service, I thought it was a one off so I cleared it with Gap ID tool. Then they flagged it as a fault during service, I had it happen again on the drive home. Appears to be permanent as this point. 2020 SVR / R.I.P. 2019 SVR / 2016 D4 Landmark / 2005 D3 HSE
