Does the 2.7....

Have ccv valves or whatever they're called?
On these cold mornings I've been getting a bit blueish grayish smoke only at start up.

I do believe they have some sort of crankcase ventilation oil separator which has a diaphragm in it, not sure what symptoms that would produce if it was split by any chance though, as said only a thought as wouldn't know for sure.

Cheers

Or it could be valve stem leakage, or some other issue. Assuming it's the 2008 in your profile, it's 17-18 years old and stuff wears. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Yeah, aged stuff wears...just like me. Just sporadic 8nitial smoke on start up. If it was stems I imagine under boost etc it would show too, but nothing. That's why I imagine ccv.

When the temperature drops the system increases fuel to help it start. Thats the source of your smoke . The 2.7 is a bit overgenerous to the point when it floods the engine and wont start and you have to pour hot water over the temp sensor in the top right hand hose to get it to start. ( making it think its hotter than it is )
If some of the glow plugs are not working that makes the situation worse Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

I have remote controlled pre heater system to combat that. I thought unburned fuel was more white ish.
So anyway, any clue on a ccv ?
