Rear Dash Cam mounting

I have a new Blackvue DR750X-2CH Plus I am going to install into the 2010 L320.
Front camera is the easy part... I was wondering if anyone has any decent pics of a similar install for the rear camera.

Is the interior plastic trim bonded to the glass? Or can the cable be routed so it is mostly hidden?

I think the OP may have the split tailgate so little harder to hide the cables I believe. This is mine with the one piece tailgate, although I have now fitted a thinkware one.

Yes, I have the split tailgate... hmm both those are very neat installs..
The split tailgate does throw another variable into it.. more investigation is needed I think.

Thanks for the pictures guys Smile

I made use of Daylight Saving tonight and started to investigate the rear camera mount... the split tailgate does make it a little more difficult, mainly with placement of the camera than anything else.
The Black plastic cover comes off easilly and then there is the fun of finding the best route for the cable.
I chose the flexible grommet / duct that the washer hose runs through, it had the most room.
Using a thin wire snake with the camera cable taped to the wire (and some WD40 for lubrication) the cable went through nicely and sits under the headlining.
I havent finalised the position of the camera just yet.. I will connect everything up tomorrowand fire it up so I can set the final position seeing what is on the phone screen.
I will post pics tomorrow of where the cable runs in the tailgate. That was hopefully the hardest part.

All finished, it ended up being a pretty easy install after all. The hardest part was feeding the rear camera cable through to the front.. and not have it showing anywhere... but a little time to make sure that when it was near an airbag it ran underneath and not over the top was well worth it.
I even found a battery and earth lead floating spare near the glovebox fuseholer... I am guessing someone had a Dash Cam in there before and just cut the wires and taped them when they removed it.. Pics of the cable for the rear camera going from the headlining area into the tailgate are attached below... it was a little fiddly but going through the grommet on the RHS (Drivers) was easiest as it only had the washer hose and as such there was more room.. I ended up running the cable all the way down that side as well.

So is that in the wiper zone - I have a dash cam on my rear window and did not put enough thought into it and it is outside the wiper zone. As a result in rain or when the rear window gets dirty the dash cam captures little and becomes useless. 07MY RRS TDV6

The camera itself is mounted on the plastic panel above the rear window but is adjustable for the view. Currently it would be approximately 50/50 in the wiper sweep but I am yet to fine tune the camera.
I can see part of the rear spoiler in the view I had a look at yesterday so I need to lower the view a little which would put it mostly within the wiper sweep.
Not that I use the rear wiper much at all... I have the rear window treated and it barely retains any water or dust... (that is a bonus) so overall it should be fine.

I fitted my rear cam to the actual rear window which just puts in the arc of the rear wiper, and get this view plus a ticket. Rolling with laughter
