On the L322 they are allegedly for noise dampening....I detected zero difference. Who the hell puts sponge material where it can absorb water? Mental idea. When the foam is new it’s waterproof. It seems to break down as it ages, and if it gets wet then freezes they get damaged when you open the bonnet.
