I have this problem now, so until i can get one sourced, how to I fool the switch?
When I take the connector off, do i just short the terminals out with a piece of wire, or do I short one to earth? 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater Smile)))

I seem to recall a previous post from Disco Mikey endorsing the use of a paper clip to bypass the switch.

One day there will be no more paper clips or wire coat hangers and then how will we fix our cars? 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

When mine goes off, its normally the boot. I have to open and close both boot compartments to reset mine. So annoying. Wish you could just turn the alarm off !

Eventually got mine sorted. Was in fact (as EVERYONE said) the Hood latch.

I replaced my switch some 5 yeras ago because the alarm kept on going off. Recently the bonnet open message has come up unless I close the bonnet with extra force on the right hand side.

Maybe the switch needs replacing every five years or so.

My left catch doesn’t latch unless bonnet slammed.
