Resting Heart Rate

I've just fitted a remote battery monitor to my battery (of course) and its showing 11.97V whilst not doing anything. Seems fine when you start up the car but quickly goes to that when turned off.

Battery goosed?

Are you checking soon after you turn the car off? I think it takes about 10 minutes for all the systems to shut down and go into standby.
Try checking after 30 minutes?
I might be wrong. 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue
2005 4.2L Supercharged Java Black - gone but was my first love.

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?

But its still enough to start the engine currently...

Based on my boat's batteries - at rest they should rest at around 12.8v MY17 RRS 4.4d V8 Autobiography - Aintree Green (also referred to on Topix as British Racing Green)

12.03v is too low,, it's bordering on letting you down 12.6V is a fully charged battery. I have a monitor on mine, the battery is quite new and it never drops below 12.4 ( unless cranking of course). I even checked it against a good quality multimeter just to make sure it was a true readingj. 2010 RRS, TDV8

How long do you run the engine when it is running? If you're doing shorter journeys, the battery won't get charged up.

I'd put it on a ctek for a day, leave it a day and then see what it's sitting at. Start the engine, do a typical journey, park it and check after 24 hours.

Why leaving it between charging/running and checking? Because you get surface charge which gives a false high reading. Leaving it for 24 hours allows this surface charge to dissipate and you get a truer reading. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

The trouble with batteries is that they will start now on a reasonable weather day, but come winter that is when is will let you down.

I presume that the cranking amps are down as well and when you need them in the winter they will not be there? Big Cry 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

Ah, that does sound like it's FUBAR'd. What's the alternator's output like? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
