No Backlight on Speedo needle,

so have a small issue with the speedo needle, it no longer lights up! its just this needle everything else on the instrument display is as you would expect rev counter, all the numbers round the speedo are fine, needle still moves.

could this just be a bad connection, is there anything i can check or is it off to the dealers?

just an update, must be a bad connection / dry joint as it came on for 1/2 the journey today before going out just as i parked up,

expect the fix would be a new instrument cluster.

Mine does this too (2010 my hse). When it's cold much more noticable as it flickers on and off. As the car warms up the needle flickers from dim to bright and after about 30 mins its normal and no more flickering. Unsure of the cause. I would have assumed a dry solder would have been off or on not flickering dim and bright in between, but unsure, and odd that it's a lot more noticable when it's cold and less so when it is warm.
Could it be a voltage thing?
Sid

Yes seams like the same fault, it's had a quick look by a local independent who are going to look at getting the unit repaired if not its a new cluster from Land Rover,

it needs sending off for a couple of days so not getting it done just yes as need the car.

* just to add mine seams to be off much more then on at the moment. Good two hr drive the other day and didn't come on once, but was flickering today.

This is a very common problem,, flickering speedo or rev counter needles. Cheapest option is to send it off to an outfit called totaltronics,, have a look at their website for more details. This isn't a Diy fix and a dealer would sting you for a new cluster,,, if you are close enough they can remove and fix the cluster while you wait. 2010 RRS, TDV8
bali Blue / colour coded
side steps / flappy paddles
black perforated leather
22" overfinch
heated everything, TV,fridge ...... now with gold calipers and mud flaps !( black mud flaps that is) !!
Many years ago,,,,, 1955 series 1 landie , sometimes wish I had kept it
